Gears of Horus Slot Review
People have been mesmerized by ancient Egyptian mythology for millennia, and countless scholars have spent years dedicating their lives to unraveling the mysteries of this ancient society. 🏺🔍
Try as they might, few others have managed to shine a light on ancient Egypt quite as well as the 1999 classic film The Mummy, directed by Stephen Sommers. 🎬🏛️
This beast of a film is now a quarter of a century old and combines action, sex appeal, magic, and a sprinkling of facts for an end product that deserves to be praised for years to come. 🎥✨
Can you tell that I’m kidding? It’s utter crap. 😅 But at least you get to laugh at the ridiculous CGI animations and bad acting. 🤣🎭
Gears of Horus slot by Pragmatic Play is basically The Mummy movie of the slot game world: there’s a random steam-punk vibe and laughable magic elements, but the max win ain’t no joke. Let’s dive in and see if this game is a blessing or a curse. 🎰🔮
Gameplay
The 6x6-reel grid is surrounded by all kinds of funky steam-punk-looking gears and gizmos, and the backdrop is that of ancient Egypt. The game generally looks good, and I appreciate the attention to detail in the design work, even if it doesn’t make a lot of sense.
The high-paying symbols are all on brand: you get 4 different Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs, while the low-paying symbols are Red, Blue, Purple, and Green Gems.
A Scarab represents the Scatter symbol and can appear on all reels. The Wild symbol substitutes for all other symbols except the Scatter symbol.
Gears of Horus slot makes use of Cluster PaysUnlike traditional paylines, Cluster Pays can award wins when a minimum number of matching symbols land adjacent to each other (vertically or horizontally), forming a cluster., which means all winning symbols pay in blocks of at least 5 symbols connected horizontally or vertically.
After a winning cluster gets paid, all winning symbols disappear. The remaining symbols tumble to the bottom of the screen, and the empty positions are replaced with new symbols from the top down. This tumbling mechanic will continue until no more winning combinations appear.
To add an extra layer of intrigue to this mythical slot game, after every tumble, one more reel or row of symbols is added, extending the grid.
First, another bottom row is added, then a top row, followed by an additional right reel, and lastly, a left reel. After all sides are unlocked, the grid remains 8x8 until the end of all tumbles resulting from the current spin.
Once the entire 8x8-reel grid has been unlocked, things get even wilder with the introduction of Random Wilds. On the very next tumble, after you’ve unlocked the full 8x8 grid, a random number of Wilds between 2 and 16 are added to the grid.
So, does this game only talk like an ancient Egyptian, or does it walk like one, too? Gears of Horus slot features a high volatility rate, but don’t let that put you off: there’s a stunning max win of $340,000.
The max multiplier is 10,000x, and the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. is 96.06%. The game makes use of Cluster PaysUnlike traditional paylines, Cluster Pays can award wins when a minimum number of matching symbols land adjacent to each other (vertically or horizontally), forming a cluster., and unfortunately, you can’t play with yen.

Performance
Gears of Horus slot is a pretty game, filled with small details and a scattering of cool animations, but this doesn’t hinder it from running beautifully on mobile phones. It also runs without fault on all popular browsers.
Maximum Win
Just like cracking open an ancient sarcophagus for the first time, Gears of Horus slot comes with a high volatility rate, but be brave, young explorer: this game pays off big time. The max win is a massive $340,000, and the max multiplier is 10,000x.
The betting range is set at $0.20 to $34.
Conclusion
Ignore all the steam-punk gears and gizmos; Gears of Horus slot is a pretty basic game that is easy to get the hang of. I love how satisfying it is to unlock new reels and rows as you score Cluster Wins, and the classic Free Spins round is spiced up with increasing multipliers.
Other than that, the game offers a simple one-option Buy Bonus deal that launches you straight into a Free Spins round.
Gears of Horus slot is cursed with the ancient spell of high volatility, but don’t let that dissuade you: this slot game pays out big time if you’re lucky enough and is at least half as entertaining as The Mummy, which is saying a lot.
