Gold Trio: Leprechaun’s Luck Slot Review

Luck 🤞 is a strange thing, but we owe it for the many years of free music we got to enjoy while being placed on hold during a telephone call.

It all started with a faulty phone line connection. The story goes that a loose wire touched the steel frame of an office building, causing it to act as a gigantic radio receiver. 📡

That meant callers to that business could hear music 🎶🎵 from the local radio station and that kicked off the trend.

Luck is a key element in any slot game, but it’s also part of the title of Playtech’s latest: Gold Trio: Leprechaun’s Luck slot.

Gameplay

Unless you’re Irish – and even then, that doesn’t mean you’ll be launching into Lord of the Dance moves – you might want to consider protecting your ears from the annoying ditty that this game assaults you with.

Members of the LGBTQ+ community will rejoice at the glorious rainbow that envelopes the 5x3 grid and its reels with pots above each one Expand (blue), Multiply (red), and Collect (green). More on these later.

To the left of the screen are the Jackpots you can win in the Gold Trio Re-spins round. The Mini pays 10x, the Minor pays 20x, the Major pays 50x, and the Grand Jackpot pays 1,000x.

Unfortunately, the game’s stats aren’t great: the volatility rate is high but the top prize is $137,900 and the max multiplier is 1,379x. The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
is 94.92%
and there are 30 paylines. You’ll need to do all of your betting with fiat currency.

The four-leaf clover Wild replaces all symbols that aren’t Coins. Coins award cash prizes up to 5x your total bet. You’ll only see these symbols during the Gold Trio Re-spins feature.

Features

GOLD TRIO RE-SPINS (HOLD AND WIN):

Now, we come back to those pots above the reels. When the colored Coins land on the reels, they’ll be collected by their respective pots.

At a random point, one or more of the pots will set off the Gold Trio Re-spins round, and the triggering modifier(s) will come into play:

  • Expand (blue): This one expands the reels
  • Multiply (red): Multiplies all Coin values by 2x
  • Collect (green): All cash prizes are collected and the sum is awarded
You get the usual 3 re-spins (the counter for which can be reset).

Coins with cash prizes will also land, as will Jackpot Coins (specifically the Mini, Minor, and Major). The Grand Jackpot is awarded if you fill all of the grid positions.

LEPRECHAUN FEATURE:

At any random point in the base game, the leprechaun can do the following:

  • Add Wilds to the reels

  • Add colored Coins

  • At a random point during the Gold Trio Re-spins round, the leprechaun could upgrade a cash prize Coin to:

  • A higher value (4x or 5x)

  • A Mystery Prize Coin (which can reveal a Jackpot)

  • A colored Coin

Performance

I usually have issues with Playtech games, and this time was no different. Safari became an insurmountable hurdle. Initially, everything went fine, but as time went on, it simply wouldn’t respond, so I had to resort to Chrome, which worked sporadically. Maybe it’s me.

Maximum Win

You’ll need to put up a whopping $100 per spin to be in the running for the $137,900 top prize, as the max multiplier is only 1,379x. And we’re talking about a high volatility rate, too. The minimum bet is $0.20.

Conclusion

Clearly, I’m not happy about the volatility rate vs max payout mismatch, given the amount of risk we’re being asked to take. The game doesn’t have an active Buy Bonus, although some versions do.

In terms of raking in the bucks, we’re having to put all of our eggs in the Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too). basket because, let’s face it, the Leprechaun feature doesn’t offer much, and how often will it trigger?

The Gold Trio Re-spins feature can be seriously lackluster for the most part. And yes, that’s how it goes with gambling; you take your chances. But all I’m saying is there are precious few alternative ways to make money in this game.

A previous version in the series is Gold Trio: Sinbad’s Riches slot and it suffers from the same shortcomings as the current game.

There are loads of Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too). games out there that I’d opt for instead, such as Buffalo Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too). Extreme 10,000 slot from Booming Games. For starters, it has a medium to high volatility rate, a 12,000x max multiplier, and a $300,000 top prize.

Feature-wise, there’s a Buy Bonus, a Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too). round, and a Bonus Wheel, which triggers randomly. Similar to the Leprechaun Feature, it can award the Bonus game, multipliers up to 5x, or the lesser Jackpots.
