Grand Junction Mountain Express Slot Review
One of my favorite writers of all time is Irvine Welsh. He’s an accomplished writer, having penned novels, short stories, screenplays, and plays.
Welsh is also known for writing his characters’ dialogue in his native Edinburgh Scots dialect and transcribing it phonetically, making his writing hard to understand when you first start reading his work.
However, by the end of one of his books, the voice in your head will sound like it came straight from the council housing schemes of working-class Edinburgh.
When I started playing Grand Junction Mountain Express slot, a train-themed game from Playtech, I couldn’t help but think of Welsh and his iconic first book, Trainspotting.
Gameplay
The first thing you should know about Grand Junction Mountain Express slot is that it has an RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. of 96.51%. It also has a medium/high volatility rate.
You play on a smaller grid with 4 reels and only 3 rows with 50 paylines. The betting range begins at €0.10 and goes up to €100. The best multiplier you can achieve is 2,145x, which means the maximum win possible is €214,500.
Grand Junction Mountain Express slot doesn’t have a standout design or much animation. However, it has some unique features you rarely see in similar games.
You can play Grand Junction Mountain Express slot on your phone or desktop. The smaller grid means the game doesn’t scale down too much on a reduced screen size.
It’s also important to note that Grand Junction Mountain Express slot is limited to fiat currencies only.
Features
WILD
The Wild symbol is an image of a modern locomotive and substitutes for all other symbols except the Scatter symbols.
SCATTER
In Grand Junction Mountain Express slot’s base game, two types of Scatter symbols trigger two different features.
Tunnel Scatter symbol:
Land 3 or more of these symbols in the base game, anywhere on the grid, and you’ll trigger the Free Spins round with 11 Free Spins.
Low-paying Scatter symbols:
Aside from the regular A, K, Q, J, 10, and 9 symbols that can land in the base game, there are modified versions on a gold background that act as Scatter symbols. If you land 5 or more of these special symbols anywhere on the grid, you’ll trigger the Hold & Win feature.
FREE SPINS
During your 11 Free Spins, the Wild and the high-paying Train Driver symbol can be stacked to fill a reel.
If you land 3 or more Tunnel Scatter symbols in this round, you’ll receive an additional 11 Free Spins.
HOLD & WIN
The Hold & Win game starts with 9 Re-Spins. You can gain 3 additional spins by landing the Conductor symbol.
The Coin and Train symbols are sticky. Coin symbols display different cash values. These add up to give you your total prize at the end of the feature.
Train symbols in this round are Bonus symbols. Landing 3 or more triggers a different Bonus Game, namely the one below.
BONUS GAME
Landing the following number of Train symbols triggers the type of Bonus Game you will play:
3 Train symbols = Mini Bonus
4 Train symbols = Minor Bonus
5 Train symbols = Major Bonus
6 Train symbols = Grand Bonus
During the Bonus Game, you play on a single reel with a meter that appears above it, displaying score ranges and the multipliers awarded.
You only get 1 spin during this Bonus Game. The only symbols on the reels will be numbers 3 to 7 or a Train symbol, which animates and reveals either 8, 9, or 10.
At the end of your spin, the numbers that landed are added to determine a score that corresponds to a multiplier.
Mini Bonus Game
- 0 - 30 = 10x
- 31 - 50 = 20x
- 0 - 31 = 25x
- 32 - 41 = 45x
- 42 - 50 = 100x
- 0 - 32 = 50x
- 33 - 40 = 75x
- 41 - 45 = 125x
- 46 - 50 = 500x
- 0 - 36 = 130x
- 37 - 39 = 300x
- 40 - 53 = 600x
- 44 - 50 = 2,000x
##Performance
I didn’t experience any bugs or glitches playing this game on my desktop or Android phone.
Maximum Win
The betting range in this slot starts at €0.10 and goes up to €100. The highest multiplier you can hope to achieve is 2,145x, which gives you a maximum win of €214,500.
Conclusion
I like that Grand Junction Mountain Express slot offers two Scatter functions that trigger different features. You also have a bonus game within a bonus game. These add variety and keep an otherwise run-of-the-mill slot interesting.
But I don’t like the scoring mechanic to determine the multiplier. It complicates the round, and I think PlayTech could have made it simpler.
Try Grand Junction Mountain Express slot if you’re looking for a new game that keeps things interesting.
