Great Ocean Slot Review

I am absolutely terrified of large bodies of water, and everything in them. I know this is an irrational fear, but oh my god no. I get chills just thinking about the things that lurk below the surface. I’m not just talking about the ocean either, I’m talking rivers, lakes, dams, the lot. Anything bigger than a pool, basically.

Gameplay

Great Ocean is a 5-reel, 25-payline video slot powered by software from Platipus Gaming. The reels are occupied by various marine creatures, including crabs, octopi, clownfish, starfish, a tropical fish, and playing cards from 10 to Ace. The Wild is represented by an Orca, while an oyster hosting a pearl acts as the Scatter. The controls are straightforward, but here they are just in case you can’t be bothered to work them out for yourself. In the bottom right of the screen, you’ll find the controls for sound as well as the menu button, and the display for both your total bet and balance. To your left, you’ll see all the controls necessary to play the game, including Auto Play, Line Bet, Spin, and Fast Forward - which will speed up the rate at which the reels spin.

Features

So, what kind of features can you expect?

  • Wild: Can appear only on reels 2 - 5 and substitutes for all other symbols excluding the Scatter. During extra rounds, Wilds will turn into Sticky Wilds and stay in their positions to help form more winning combos.

Unique Features

Great Ocean has some pretty unusual features, including:

  • Stacks: A stack of at least 3 matching symbols on reel 1 will trigger 2 Re-Spins.

  • Scatters: Collecting 3, 4 or 5 Scatters on consecutive reels, will award you with 10, 20 or 30 Free Spins. Just like in the base game, all Wilds here will turn into Sticky Wilds.

Performance

Platipus builds a pretty neat slot. Great Ocean has fantastic graphics, and a cheesy marine-themed soundtrack to get you moving with the motion of the ocean. The game is available on all devices, but give it a whirl on your tablet to experience all it has to offer.

Conclusion

Great Ocean truly lives up to its namesake. It’s a lot of fun, but also offers high payouts and nail-biting stakes. It’s truly unique, and I’m definitely going to be returning to it over and over again.
