Gritty Kitty of Nitropolis Slot Review

I once found myself passed out at a buddy’s place after a heavy night🍻.

I woke up to the sounds of 💣WWIII kicking off💣 in the kitchen. I jumped up, bleary-eyed, expecting to have to fend off some crazed intruder intent on murdering me and anyone else in the apartment😨.

I picked up a big glass ashtray and stalked toward the kitchen entrance🚪.

I steeled my fragile nerves and jumped through the doorway, about to swing on a looney.

Shocked and relieved, I found my friend’s 5 cats 😾😾😾😾😾 freaking out and bouncing around the kitchen counters, with one stuck in the window blinds above the sink filled with pots, adding to the clamor.

Not quite as cool as the post-apocalyptic cat scene in ELK Studios’ Gritty Kitty of Nitropolis slot, but I live in reality and not the developers’ wild imagination.

Gameplay

Gritty Kitty of Nitropolis slot is a kind of anthropomorphic cartoon world, think Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles—but with cats and in a cyberpunk world.

The visuals are grungy and technological. The high symbols include a cat with throwing stars, a maneki-neko figurine wearing a gas mask, a catnip teapot, and an open tin of sardines.

You play on 6 reels and 4 rows, which can expand to 8 when winning symbols explode and add a position. There are also up to 262,144 ways to land matching symbols to create a win.

Above the game reels is another set of 6 horizontal reels with 3 rows called the Feature Reels, which contain feature symbols, mystery symbols, and empty cells.

I go into detail about this in the features section further down.

When winning symbols on the main grid are removed, symbols from the Feature Reels drop down onto the reel directly below, and new symbols slide in from the right.

This is a fiat currency-only slot, and the minimum bet is $0.20, and the maximum goes up to $6. The top multiplier is 25,000x, which opens the way to the highest payout of $150,000.

The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.

Features

FEATURE REELS

This set of horizontal reels contains empty symbols, empty positions, and feature symbols.

Empty symbols take up positions on the reels below, and random pay symbols take their place. These can be regular 1x1-sized or 2x2 and 3x3 jumbo pay symbols and Wild symbols.

Big symbols pay the amount of regular 1x1 symbols for every position they cover; for example, a 2x2 big symbol pays out as 4 regular symbols.

If a big symbol cannot completely drop down from the Feature Reel, it will either crush 1x1 symbols in the main grid to fit or split up into 1x1 symbols in the feature reel and partially drop down.

If a big symbol lands with an empty cell under it, it will fill the empty position with a regular 1x1 symbol of the same type.

The feature symbols include the following:

The Nitro Reels
Nitro Reels are one of the features that can be added to the main reel from the Feature Reel. A Nitro Reel always covers two positions on the grid and contains 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 identical 1x1 paying symbols. There is also a big Nitro Reel, which always takes up 6 symbols in 3 positions on two adjacent reels, and contains 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 2x2 matching symbols.

The Nitro Upgrade
When this symbol lands on a reel, it upgrades the number of symbols in the Nitro Reels present on the reels. If there are no Nitro Reels, the Nitro Upgrade will persist until one lands or is removed on the next spin.

The Nitro Match
This symbol replaces all the symbols in the Nitro Reels with a random matching symbol. If there are no Nitro Reels present on the grid, this symbol will also persist until they appear on the reels or until the next spin.

The Nitro Wild
This feature replaces all the symbols in the Nitro Reels with Wild symbols. As with the other Nitro features, if there are no Nitro Reels on the grid, this symbol will stick around until one or more appear on the reels until the next spin.

TNT symbol
This dynamite time bomb explodes all the regular pay symbols on the reel where it lands and any reels directly next to it, allowing new symbols to drop in from the Feature Reels.

Big Coin Symbol
When a 6x3 blue Coin symbol covers the entire Feature Reel you’re awarded an instant prize.

ASSASSIN SPINS

This feature is triggered when a 6x3 pink cat head called the Assassin symbol appears on the Feature Reels.

You’re awarded 3 Assassin Spins where only Coin, Nitro Reels, TNT symbols, and blockers appear. Every new Coin or Nitro Reel land, the Assassin Spins are reset to 3.

All Coin symbols are sticky, and their total multiplier values are collected and applied to your current bet to award a prize.

There is also a Golden Collector symbol, a cat's head on a spiky shield, that collects the values from all Coins present on the reels.

FREE SPINS

Landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 Bonus symbols (a pair of satellite dishes) simultaneously awards 8, 10, 12, or 14 Free Spins.

During Free Spins, Nitro Reels are sticky, and reel expansions don’t reset for the duration of the feature.

You can also retrigger Free Spins by landing 3 or more Bonus symbols.

Performance

I put Gritty Kitty of Nitropolis slot through hundreds of spins on multiple browsers, and it didn’t show any signs of faltering.

Maximum Win

The most you can hope to win is $150,000 on a single spin, which will cost you as little as $6! That is, if you can line up the highest possible multiplier of 25,000x. Or you can bet as little as $0.20.

Conclusion

Gritty Kitty of Nitropolis slot is a triumph!

It’s a fantastic-looking game, and the Feature Reels that drops stacked symbols in the form of Nitro Reels, various Nitro upgrades, and other special symbols that help create wins.

In terms of money making opportunities, there is a hold-and-win Re-spin feature, where pay symbols are replaced by Coin symbols and special symbols.

Then there are Free Spins, which can be triggered by landing Bonus symbols.

The only feature I wish this game had was a Buy Bonus.

Every spin feels action-packed, even if it’s a dead spin. Play this slot! You will not be disappointed!
