No, this is not referring to any illegal substance abuse think more on the lines of fly hooks, rods, water, aquatic life… yip we’re going on a fishing trip. So get your best fishing gear ready and let’s tackle the reels to enjoy a fresh catch of the day. Last time I went fishing however, I landed up with a hook in my own cheek. Oh well, we can’t always win at life but you can win on Hooked.

Gameplay

Hooked is a 5x3 reel, 25 payline slot powered by Booming Games software. The symbols include 5 different Fly Hooks as the lower paying symbols, a Bass fish, Swordfish Fish and Lobster as the higher paying symbols. Special symbols include the Wild and the Bobber Scatter. There is also a bonus Fish On! Feature. More detail will be provided in the features section.

On the right of the reels you will find an icon with three horizontal lines that expand the Menu, with History of Play, Full Screen Mode, Game Rules, Settings, Information and Autoplay icons. Below is an icon with coins allowing you to adjust your Bet. Below that you will find the Spin button.

Features

The Hooked features include the Wild, Bobber Scatter that triggers the Free Spins Feature and the Fish On! Bonus Feature that will be discussed in the Unique Features section.

The Wild substitutes for all symbols except for the Bobber Scatter, forming potential winning combinations.

Land 3 or more Bobber Scatters to trigger the Free Spins Feature, 3, 4 or 5 Bobber Scatters will award 5, 10 or 15 free spins respectively. The Fish On! Bonus Feature is also in play during the Free Spins Feature. Unfortunately free spins can’t be retriggered during the feature.

Unique Features

The Fish On! Bonus Feature is triggered at random during a spin in the base game or in Free Spins. A giant fish will swim across the reels and is caught in a net to activate the feature. If the fish is not caught, then the feature will not continue. Only one type of fish can be caught, either the Bass, Swordfish or Lobster and will become the only symbol to appear in the special reels. Symbols are dropped down into the reels either filling them or leaving spaces.

Each fish has a different multiplier value attached to them:
Each Lobster pays 5x the bet
Each Swordfish pays 3x the bet
Each bass pays 2x the bet.

So what happens is that each fish that lands on a reel is caught and added to the weighing net on the left. The total weight represents the total multiplier valuer that is paid out after the feature.

If you land all 15 fish in one Fish On! Bonus Feature, it will award a special payout:
15 Lobsters pays 1000x the bet
15 swordfish pays 500x the bet
15 bass pays 250x the bet

Performance

Hooked is a medium-high volatility game with only a 1000x stake which isn’t great considering that the RTP only comes in at 95,49%. However, thanks to the multiplier Fish On! Bonus Feature you can catch some decent wins. The graphics and design of the game is great that serves up some nice sea creatures to enjoy.

Hooked will get you reeling in some good catches, it’s a pity that the RTP bites a bit too hard but you are still able to win decently. So make sure you get your best rods in order to haul out the big ones from the depths of the ocean. You are going to have seafood for dinner now aren’t you?
