Retro – “Imitative of a style or fashion from the recent past” (Oxford English dictionary definition)

Generally, I'm not a fan of the term '”retro” because I think my girlfriend has probably spent thousands of dollars over the years to decorate our house with other peoples old stuff that has been deemed “retro” at flea markets. Seriously – if you've got anything outdated and half broken that you want to throw away – don't. Rather, label it “retro” and sell it at a flea market. Someone will come across it and think they are getting a bargain, oblivious to the fact that they can get the same thing new at a lower price. If you live in my area, I must as well wire you the money now because my girlfriend will find it, claw some hipster out the way and pay top dollar.
Bearing in mind my disdain for anything retro, best you take my following review with a pinch of salt:
Hot scatter is a retro classic fruit slot and is designed by Amatic to work on P.C's, mobile devices, and tablets. I felt like I was in a time warp when I began because this game at first glance seems to have been transported directly from the 80's. It's bright and bold colors kept me interested enough to continue and hope that Hot Scatter had a few tricks up its sleeve. Feeling like one of those kids in "Stranger Things" playing an arcade game, I pressed spin….

Gameplay

Hot Scatter is a 5 reel 10 payline slot, giving it a high level of volatility.
The symbols are predominantly fruit: watermelon, plum, lemon, grapes, orange and cherries. They are joined by a lucky 7 and a star scatter,
Amatic controls generally aren't very pretty but get the job done nicely. On the bottom, there are Total balance and Bet amount displays. Below that are Autostart, Exit, Gamble, Bet and Start. Up top, you can find info (paytable and rules).
The Autostart has no advanced settings to plan and there is no Turbospin.

Features

Here's where Hot scatter differs from many other offerings which are based on classic slots:

Performance

The graphics won't be winning any awards, but they're designed to give that feeling of an old time slot, so that's understandable. The music and sound effects are a fine accompaniment and are distinctly Amatic's style. Performance wise Hot Scatter burnt through all my benchmark tests without a blemish.

Conclusion

Retro with a zing. Now that I can live with! Hot scatter gives you a traditional feel with some hidden surprises. So, if you are torn between classic slots and new features, then this slot might just be the right mixture for you. Don't expect brilliant graphics or animation – but DO expect to have loads of fun!
