Hounds of Hell Slot Review
You might know the story of Cerberus, the multi-headed dog from Greek mythology that’s said to guard the gates of the Underworld 🔥. Well, I reckon Cerberus is a Maltese Poodle 🐩, Chihuahua, or maybe a Toy Pom.
Those little short-arsed bastards are notorious for having small dog syndrome. They snap and growl 😡 at anything and anyone, no matter how large the opposition.
I guess it’s their time now. Back in the day, people wouldn’t have been carrying the little f*****s around in handbags; they’d have been running around in the wild, having to fend for themselves, so they’re going to protect their lifestyle for all that it’s worth.
This is Hounds of Hell slot from Hacksaw.
Gameplay
Finally – a game that suits my nefarious tastes! As a lifelong metalhead, Hounds of Hell slot depicts the type of imagery my momma would show me in those kiddies’ books.
My only gripe is that the soundtrack sucks – surely it should’ve been something glorious and uplifting from a band such as Behemoth? That’s the stuff I like to listen to while I do a spot of knitting.
Unsurprisingly, the game is set I the fiery pits, but instead of Cerberus guarding the 5x5 grid, we have two hell hounds. I guess it makes for better symmetry.
Wins are formed when you land 6 or more identical symbols anywhere on the reels, and the game also has a CascadeOtherwise known as a Tumble, Avalanche, or whatever a studio sees fit to name it. The idea is the same, though; winning symbols get removed, and new ones take their place. This action could result in additional wins, in which case the action continues. feature.
The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. is 96.27%, the volatility rate is medium to high, but the max multiplier is 20,000x, and the top prize is $300,000. Damn, but the Underworld is generous.
As for the currencies you can play with, this is limited to fiat money, with Tether being the only crypto you can roll with.
Features
HELLHOUNDS:
If you thought those hounds were for decorative purposes, think again. Hellhounds also appear as symbols, and they double up as multipliers – one type is additive, the other multiplicative.
When a spin ends, Hellhounds that have landed stack up to the top of the reel they’re on, spreading multipliers of random values as they go.
These values will be collected from bottom to top, and from left to right, and you’ll see the values displayed above the reels. The final multiplier values will be added together and multiplied by your bet.
The collected values depend on if a Hellhound multiplier is additive or multiplicative. The possible values for each are as follows:
Additive: 1x to 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x
Multiplicative: 2x to 5x, 10x
ROARING PACKS OF HELL:
Whenever two or more Hellhounds land on adjacent reels and on the same row, this forms a Roaring Pack, with the upshot being increased multiplier values (potentially). And the stacked multipliers that come from the Hellhounds are also considered part of the pack.
This means that additive multipliers could add 5x to 100x to the reel total, while multiplicative multipliers could add 3x to 20x.
If a Hellhound is part of a Pack, it’ll remain as such even if the Hellhound ends up on a different row as a result of a future CascadeOtherwise known as a Tumble, Avalanche, or whatever a studio sees fit to name it. The idea is the same, though; winning symbols get removed, and new ones take their place. This action could result in additional wins, in which case the action continues..
HOUNDS ARE LOOSE:
This feature can trigger randomly after a spin yields no win. All low-paying symbols are removed and that means new symbols will drop into their positions. There’s an increased chance of Hellhounds landing when the Hounds are Loose.
WHAT THE HELL (FREE SPINS):
Landing 3 FS Scatters in the base game gets you 10 spins, but you can score 2 or 4 additional spins by landing 2 or 3 extra FS Scatters, respectively.
The differentiator with this feature is that all multipliers that are collected from Hellhounds are now kept above the reels until the round ends, and they can even increase progressively!
When the feature ends, the multipliers are added together and multiplied by your bet.
Another important thing to note about this round is that Hounds are Loose are guaranteed to trigger after 3 consecutive non-winning spins.
WHO LET THE HOUNDS OUT (FREE SPINS):
Score 10 Free Spins by landing 4 FS Scatters (they can be re-triggered in the same way as in the What the Hell feature).
This feature is different from What the Hell because when a Hellhound lands on the reels for the first time, that reel turns into a Hell Reel. A Hellhound symbol is guaranteed to land on each Hell Reel on every Free Spin until the feature comes to an end.
Hellhound multipliers are added together and multiplied by your bet at the end of each spin, but the total multipliers above each reel reset to zero between spins.
GAMBLE FEATURE:
Whenever you trigger one of the Free Spin rounds, you’ll be given the choice to gamble for additional spins. The default number of spins is 10, but it could end up that you get fewer spins after the gamble – or perhaps more. Who knows?
If you decide to gamble, you’ll be presented with 5 glowing, burning Orbs. You need to pick 3 of these, and the resultant numbers they reveal will be added up and that’s how many spins you’ll get.
BUY BONUS AND ANTE BET:
Pay 3x more per spin (Ante BetAn Ante Bet is an option that costs a percentage of your bet but increases your chances of landing triggering symbols that initiate a feature.), and each spin will be 5x more likely to trigger Free Spins. Very high volatility.
Increase your bet to 60x per spin (Ante BetAn Ante Bet is an option that costs a percentage of your bet but increases your chances of landing triggering symbols that initiate a feature.), and each spin is guaranteed to result in a minimum of 3 Hellhound symbols landing. No Free Spin symbols will land, though. High volatility.
Pay 100x your bet for the What the Hell feature. Very high volatility.
Pay 250x your bet for Who Let the Hounds Out. High volatility.
Interestingly, if you choose one of the Buy Bonus options, there’s no backing out. You’ll have to take the 10 spins or gamble, but you can’t change your mind and exit the Buy Bonus.
Performance
Performance was not an issue while testing Hounds of Hell slot.
Maximum Win
The most you can win in this game is a whopping $300,000 – this comes about when you combine the gargantuan 20,000x max multiplier with the $15 max bet. The smallest bet you can place is $0.10.
Conclusion
Money-making is a definite possibility thanks to the two Free Spins options and their Hellhound multipliers. And trust me, those multipliers can add up: I scored a 95x multiplier without breaking a sweat, and then followed that up with a 97.60x multiplier!
It’s rare to see stacked multipliers in a game, and it’s rarer still to see Hacksaw offering a gamble feature as the precursor to their Free Spin rounds. So not only does Hounds of Hell slot have cool ways to make money, but it’s also innovative and novel.
This is a legit, balls-out game for those who enjoy a challenge, want options, and are into making bank. And if you’re a horror fan, then the aesthetics are an added bonus.
Hacksaw’s not one to shy away from scary themes, so if you’re into the dark side, there’s Life and Death slot, the amazing RIP City slot, and of course, SixSixSix slot.
The latter also has a Gamble featureThis feature allows you to gamble your current winnings. It usually takes the form of guessing what color and/or suit a facedown card will reveal itself to be. A correct guess on the color pays 2x, while a correct guess of the color and suit pays 4x your bet. and Free Spins, along with a 16,666x max multiplier and a $333,320 top prize.
