Huntress: Wild Vengeance Slot Review
OK, so I’m not loving the backstory of Huntress: Wild Vengeance slot from Relax. The narrative goes like this: the Huntress is looking to exact vengeance on the beast that killed her family.
It seems to be a bear, but the [insert derogatory term here] is happy to kill other creatures, too.
Yes, I know it’s just a game but if you prefer animals to humans as I do, then voting for a protagonist wearing a snow leopard as a hat isn’t going to go down well. And the whole thing about her wanting to slay an animal for doing what’s natural is anathema to me.
Now that I’ve vented, I guess it’s time to steel myself for some decidedly not-cool slot action.
Gameplay
I’ll give Relax this: the level of detail and craftsmanship is simply astonishing – the studio has hit a home run with the aesthetics. And the sound effects suit the game perfectly and aren’t in the least bit annoying.
But (rant alert) the stunning design doesn’t help ease the horror of the cut-scenes where you see the Huntress selling a wolf pelt to a trader, or a young Huntress trapping a rabbit. The only reason I’m continuing with this review is that I’m a professional and this is my job.
Scratching under the surface reveals the following stats: 15 fixed paylines, an RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. of 96.66%, and a high volatility rate. The max win is a rock solid €200,000 and there are no currency limitations, so feel free to play with the moolah of your choice.
Features
WILD HUNTRESS FEATURE:
The appearance of the sour-faced Huntress on reels 2 to 4 will see her nudge her way across an entire reel (in other words, she becomes fully stacked).
She will also add all spinner values (I’ll explain this term in a sec) to the global multiplier and grant a re-spin if a new Huntress symbol lands. In the latter case, all Huntress symbols will be locked and stacked.
As for spinners, these are the multiplier numbers you’ll see on the open, oval positions on the reels' borders.
The multipliers will be applied when a winning line cuts through a spinner, at which point its value is randomly increased by a factor of 1 to 9.
FREE SPINS:
You’ll need to land at least 3 Bonus Scatters to trigger the Free Spins round. Every Huntress that lands now will bump up the global multiplier by the sum of the spinners that you can see.
BONUS BUY:
There are 2 things you can do when selecting this option, which will cost you 56x your stake – either gamble for more Free Spins or just buy 10 spins.
Hunt Gamble: This feature is disgusting – your task is to shoot a bear with a bow and arrow as it’s running for its life.
Within Hunt Gamble are 2 choices. Option 1 allows for up to 18 spins if you win, or 4 if you lose. Option 2 gives you nothing if you lose, but you can score up to 26 spins if you win.
You’ll see a red COLLECT button to the right. If you don’t hit that right away, the spin variable will go up by 1 and the bear always has a chance of escaping – although the latter didn’t seem to happen much during testing.
Free Spins: If you opt for this, you’ll avoid any wholesale slaughter and go straight to the 10 spins.
Instead of permanently displaying the number of spins left, Spinomenalhas it alternating with the win amount under the grid, or sometimes to the right of the reels, which isn’t the best UX (user interface).
Performance
I tested this game across hundreds of spins, much to my chagrin. During that time, it didn’t exhibit any glitches or buffering, so feel free to rock it on your chosen device, and you can also use the browser you like.
Maximum Win
The 10,000x multiplier does the heavy lifting, and that means you’ll only need to fork out €20 per spin if you want a shot at the €200,000 max win. However, you can bet from as low as €0.20.
Conclusion
The theme of Huntress: Wild Vengeance slot had me arguing with myself. On one hand, I find it abhorrent, while on the other I acquiesce that it's just a game.
Still, I don’t condone the whole “I’m going to kill a bear because it did what nature has designed it to do” slant. So, I think the theme sucks and I’m disappointed that Spinomenal went down this road.
As for the gameplay, the base game is uneventful, much like many other slots. What elevates Huntress: Wild Vengeance slot is the fact that you can score a bunch of Free Spins and multipliers, and that you can play a mini-game to achieve this.
