Ivan and the Immortal King Slot Review

Coming all the way from Russian Folklore, Ivan and the Immortal King is based on an age old Russian tale about a hero named Ivan Tsarevich who’s quest was to defeat the evil Immortal King Koschei. He needed to get Koschei’s soul in order to claim illicit treasures but in order to do so he had to get Koschei’s soul (which was hidden in a needle) by breaking the needle in which it was kept. However the needle is in an egg, which is in a duck, which is in a hare, which is inside a treasure chest - think of those Russian babushka dolls or a turducken, same concept. In terms of the video slot, reach the 20x multiplier to unlock the chest and break the needle and claim all the winnings.

Gameplay

Ivan and the Immortal King is a 5x3 reel, 20 payline slot powered by Quickspinsoftware. The symbols include dragons, wolves, a fairy lady, Ivan the Immortal King, Ivan Tsarevich and 5 different gems. Special symbols include a Wild and Chest being the bonus scatter. During the free spins feature there is a Progress scatter symbol that is used to increase the multiplier meter. There is also the random bonus feature that appears during both the base game as well as the free spins feature known as the Baby Yaga Surprise feature. More details will be given in the feature’s section.

As far as controls go, they are all neatly located below the reels. On the far left hand side you will find the menu icon (three horizontal lines) that opens up to the Information icon with pay tables, then the Question Mark icon will give you a full description of the game rules and then the History of your game play icon. Below that is a Game Settings icon followed by your standard betting area with increase and decrease options followed by the Win screen and then the Autospin, Fast-forwad and Spin buttons.

Features

Bare with me in trying to bring this across as there is a lot to take in. During the base game there is a standard wild that replaces all symbols except the bonus and progressive scatters. To land the free spins feature you need to land 3 or more bonus scatter symbols (the chest) to trigger the feature. Before we go into detail about the free spins feature we need to discuss the Baby Yaga Surprise feature.

Baby Yaga is an absolute bonkers witch that swoops in out of nowhere on her broom during the base game. You will notice that she is arriving when the reels go dark and you start hearing a screeching laugh in the background. She releases frogs onto the reels that hide 4 random adjacent symbols replacing them in one of two ways namely: Between 1 and 3 symbols are replaced with bonus scatter symbols in the base game or progress scatter symbols during free spins; or one randomly selected paying symbol replaces all hidden symbols to guarantee a win.

Okay, here is where things get a bit complicated, the Free Spins Feature.
You will notice stacked symbols on the left of the screen with a chest, hare, duck, egg, needle and skull with a crown on it. This is used during the free spins feature and is basically a multiplier meter, reaching the top gives you 20x multiplier. The free spins are given according to the number of bonus symbols you land and works as follows:

Land 3 bonus scatter symbols to trigger 10 free spins at Chest Level with a x1 multiplier
Land 4 bonus scatter symbols to trigger 14 free spins at Hare Level with a x2 multiplier
Land all 5 bonus scatter symbols to trigger 10 free spins at Duck Level with a x3 multiplier

Once you are in the free spins feature the normal bonus scatter becomes a progression scatter. To activate the next multiplier level, you need to collect 3 coin progressive scatters. Every time you reach a new multiplier level, you’ll get an additional 4 free spins up to 30 free spins. Here is a further breakdown of the additional spins to be won:

Egg level: 22 free spins with a x5 multiplier
Needle: 26 free spins with a x10 multiplier
Skull with crown level: 30 free spins with a x20 multiplier

Unique Features

Although the features are presented in a unique way, the actual features are not unique in what they offer.

Performance

Ivan and the Immortal King is honestly a bit confusing at first with all the features and what they mean. To be honest, the high volatility of the game almost makes it impossible to progress to the true potential of winnings of this game. But, if you do progress to at least the free spins feature, there is huge winning potential. For example, you can win up to 2000x your stake if you fill the reels with Ivan Tsarevich symbols or wild symbols but if you do this with the 20x multiplier you can win a massive 40,000x your total stake. The design and effects are superbly executed and the use of traditional folklore music in the background ties into the theme beautifully. The max coin win of 4000000 and RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

of 96.29% makes this slot worth a shot.

Max Win

The max coin win is 4000000

Conclusion

I’m not a fan of slots with overly complicated features and having to jump through a thousand hoops to get anywhere exciting. But if you have the patience for it then Ivan and the Immortal King will make you wish you were immortal so that you can keep on spinning until you have conquered the game.
