Journey To The West Slot Review

Eastern themes can be pretty standard and boring. This one is not. There is, after all, a monkey with a "fro" and a hairpiece that would make any red carpet walker a little jealous, then there is a pig with what looks like a yarmulke. Now the irony here is Jewish people don't eat pork and then there are the 2 very hairy men. Have you ever seen a hairy Chinese guy? No didn't think so!
Based on a classic ancient tale, Journey to the West is a Chinese themed slot from Pragmatic Play. Available on mobile, tablet and desktop devices, it comes with stylish design and a couple of unusual looking animals. Perhaps even a little sinister perhaps. Stacked symbols and free spin features give a good gaming experience while multipliers pump up the wins.

Gameplay

This epic journey takes place on 5 reels while offering 25 paylines to keep your pockets lined with a handsome reward.
The characters that fill this slot are larger than life and are entirely fantastical in appearance. The reels include 4 lower value Chinese letters and four mythological characters who appear in the book on which this slot is based. They are Sha Wujing, Zhu Bajie aka Pigsy, Xuanzang and Sun Wukong aka The Monkey King.who is the most rewarding.
2 other symbols on the reels are the Wild, which can replace all symbols except the Scatter, which is the last symbol on the reels.
The control panel is neatly laid out below the reels and allows the player to work their way around this game easily. The information icon will take you to the pay table where you will be able to read up on how the game works and what you need in order to win big.

Features

Should the Scatter land in 3 spots anywhere on the reels you will trigger the free spin round with 5 free spins. If you land more Scatter symbols during the free spin round, you will receive 3 more free spins. This option is unlimited.
You'll then have to choose from 1 of the 4 main characters or the wild. Extra stacks of this symbol will be added to the reels for your free spins. Each 1 offers a special multiplier award when it forms part of a winning combination:

  • Wild wins pay 1x

  • Monkey King wins pay 2x

  • Xuanzang wins pay 3x

  • Pigsy wins pay 4x

  • Sha wins pay 5x

During regular spins, all symbols can be stacked except the Scatter symbol.

Maximum Win

Your journey will bring great reward in the form of 50 000 coins.

Performance

Journey to the West performed well and offered some rewarding play. The interactive element of selection helps to make the player in control of their fate. The characters were a little strange in appearance but exceptionally well designed and presented.

Conclusion

Journey to the West will appeal to the general gaming community as it is a good combination of visual and gaming action. I recommend you give this slot a go. You will be pleased you did.
