Koi Harmony Slot Review
I have a tattoo of a koi fish on my upper arm. It’s part of a Japanese-themed sleeve I’ve got going on so I’m already a bit biased in favor of Koi Harmony slot from Playtech.
The most famous story of a koi is one that revolves around a golden carp that was swimming upstream in the Yellow River in China. There was a waterfall at the river's end, and only our koi had the balls to reach the top.
The gods praised the fish and turned it into a golden dragon as a reward for his perseverance and courage. Let’s see if we’ve got what it takes to make it.
Gameplay
Woah! What do we have here – a single payline game? Now, that’s interesting. The grid on Koi Harmony slot is a 3-reel affair that dominates the screen, and that’s helped by the unobtrusive, watery background.
The result is that this game looks unbelievably good on a mobile device, with portrait mode being my favorite way of playing. It’s super easy to see the grid, the controls are well positioned, and Playtech has been frugal with the controls so as to keep the layout clean.
The object of the game is to get the fish parts to line up and the color combination will determine how lucrative the results will be.
This is a game with a high volatility rating, so I expected the max win to be suitably generous. However, it’s not quite as high as I imagined, at €177,600, but the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. is a very decent 96.47%.
Do take note though that only fiat players will be able to give this game their all. Crypto, sadly isn’t accepted. Oh, and a word to the wise – I’d have my finger hovering over the MUTE button if I was you. The sound effects are abominable.
Features
The Rainbow Fish is the big daddy koi that you absolutely wanna land. It’s worth €4,440 and if 1 or more Rainbow Fish segments are involved in a winning combo, you’ll be gifted the Respin Feature.
Before we get to that, let me just run through how much the other koi are worth: Yellow Koi (€500), Red Koi (€300), Green Koi (€200), Purple Koi (€100), and Multicolored Koi (€40).
RESPIN FEATURE:
As I mentioned, any winning combo that includes at least 1 Rainbow Roll, I mean Fish, will set this feature off. You’ll be awarded 1 Respin (not much, I know) and now all fish parts will be the same color.
Line wins that come during the Respin feature will pay normally, according to the paytable. Respins can’t be re-triggered during the feature.
Performance
Our koi did a great job on Safari and Chrome, and performed flawlessly across the hundreds of spins I sent its way. It didn’t matter which device I played on, either.
Maximum Win
The max win for this game is €177,600. Now you might think that’s not as generous as it could be, given the high volatility rate, but I reckon it’s okay.
What is bountiful though, are the bet limits. You can start laying down some moolah at €0.10 or scoot to the top end, which is €100. Oh, and the multiplier is 1,776x.
Conclusion
I can sum this game up in one word: boring. I mean, how many times can you watch a 3-reel, single payline game with just a koi fish on it? There’s one feature and it’s the most banal thing I’ve experienced in a while.
I can’t say Koi Harmony slot is without any redeeming qualities, but that’s all down to the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. and max win. And you can find similar stats on a bunch of other slots, so I think I’ll be off to play on one of those.
