Leprechaun’s Luck Cash Collect Megaways Slot Review
I had a good laugh when I came across a YouTube channel where a dude committed to watching all six movies in the Warwick Davis Leprechaun series back to back.
He was already regretting his decision after the first one and you can’t blame him considering the storyline of that initial film goes like this:
A dude comes home in a limo after a boozy night out. His wife accosts him, not only because he’s trashed but because they’re broke, so what’s he doing in a limousine?
He shows her that he found a pot of gold – the only problem is the gold belongs to a Leprechaun and he wants it back. The little dude kills the wife and the man tries to keep the Leprechaun at bay by brandishing a four-leaf clover as if it were a crucifix!
And if this is how it starts, you can only imagine the trauma this YouTuber had to go through. At least the first movie featured a young and delectable Jennifer Anniston to offset the pain.
And now it’s time to see if Leprechaun’s Luck Cash Collect Megaways slot from Playtech brings us riches or regret.
Gameplay
Oh joy, a Leprechaun-themed game. My favorite. This one is set in green pastures with a rainbow arching over the grid. There are 6 reels with an additional 7th horizontal reel that spans reels 2 to 5.
As a result, there are up to 86,436 ways to win – but you expected something like this, given the game’s title. The game also uses a Tumble mechanic, so winning symbols are removed and others fall down to assume their position.
And Holy Mother of Moses, wouldn’t you know it but there are also Jackpots on offer! But before you get too excited, take a look at their potential payouts:
The Grand Jackpot pays 500x, the Major Jackpot pays 200x, the Minor Jackpot pays 50x, and the Mini Jackpot pays 20x. Not exactly life-changing stuff, eh?
The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. starts at 94.86% and rises slightly to 94.93% when using the Ante BetAn Ante Bet is an option that costs a percentage of your bet but increases your chances of landing triggering symbols that initiate a feature. (I’ll explain that option in the Features section).
Leprechaun’s Luck Cash Collect Megaways slot offers a medium to high volatility rate, so the $236,530 top payout is very generous. The 2,365.3x multiplier, however, is not. The only currency you can use is fiat money, but not the Russian ruble.
The Wild symbol replaces all others that aren’t Cash Coins, Prize Coins, Free Game Scatters, or Cash Collect symbols.
Cash Collect symbols are needed to grab the values of the Cash Coins, Prize Coins, and Free Spin Scatters that land. Landing Cash Collect symbols on the additional reel see the values of Diamond Prize Coins being grabbed in addition to the aforementioned.
Features
FREE SPINS:
Unlike how Free Spins are triggered in most games, this one kicks off when landing a Cash Collect symbol on the extra reel. It will grab all of the landed Scatters on the main grid and that’s what will initiate the round.
The number of spins you’ll get equals the sum of the numbers you’ll see on the collected Scatters.
Cash Collect symbols that land (which will be on the main reels, not the extra one) will collect the visible Coins.
Each Cash Collect symbol on reels 2 to 6 will stick initially but then move one position to the left during the subsequent spin. Cash Collect symbols will drop off after they’ve moved across to reel 1.
POTS OF GOLD:
You may see a Pot of Gold appearing at the start of any random spin – this will reveal a Wild symbol, a Cash Coin, a Diamond Prize Coin, or a Free Spin Scatter.
JACKPOTS:
You’ve read about what the prizes are for these – hooray 🙄 – so now I’ll reveal how to win them. Hit the reels with a Diamond Prize Coin, anywhere, along with a Cash Collect symbol and you’ll be in the money. The Jackpot is chosen randomly.
ANTE BET:
You have two options with the Ante BetAn Ante Bet is an option that costs a percentage of your bet but increases your chances of landing triggering symbols that initiate a feature.:
Pay 2x your bet to triple your chance of triggering the Free Spins round
Pay 15x your bet for a guaranteed Cash Collect symbol on all spins. And this symbol will be locked in place during the base game and Free Spins
Just look at what it says in the italics above – which is taken verbatim from the game’s Info copy.
If, like me, you interpreted this to mean “you’ll get a Cash Collect symbol with each spin and that these symbols will become sticky,” you’d be wrong. In fact, I landed one Cash Collect symbol initially and that was it, so what am I paying for?
As with all Ante Bets, you’ll be charged the increased amount until you toggle the option off, and the Ante BetAn Ante Bet is an option that costs a percentage of your bet but increases your chances of landing triggering symbols that initiate a feature. won’t work if you’re using the Autoplay function.
Performance
I played hundreds of spins of Leprechaun’s Luck Cash Collect Megaways slot, and it worked a treat.
Maximum Win
You’ll need to bet a massive $100 per spin to be in the running for the $236,530 top payout because the max multiplier is only 2,365.3x.
Conclusion
My kneejerk reaction is: Meh.
Sure, there’s an excellent top prize on offer, but you’ll need to spend a fortune to be eligible. Which in itself isn’t that much of an issue; lots of games charge 100 bucks. What I’m less enamored with is the low Jackpot payouts.
But in the interests of fairness, Leprechaun’s Luck Cash Collect Megaways slot has been built on solid stats. Well, besides that max multiplier. And the mobile experience is not too shabby in landscape mode.
I guess I’m still annoyed at the wording of the second Ante BetAn Ante Bet is an option that costs a percentage of your bet but increases your chances of landing triggering symbols that initiate a feature. offer but that could be my interpretation. Anyway, it’s not like it’s viable that you can score a grid full of Cash Collect symbols, so I need to get over it.
