Little Big Horn Slot Review
Custer’s Last Stand (a.k.a. the Battle of Little Bighorn) was a conflict that took place in 1876 between the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army, and the Lakota Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, Arapaho, and other Native American Plains Indians.
It’s also the theme for our next game from Nolimit City entitled Little Bighorn slot. I’m not American (native or otherwise), so I don’t have an opinion on how this theme might come across. I’ll leave that up to you to decide.
All I know is that I love a little controversy and I’m fairly giddy at the prospect of seeing what the studio has done with this one.
Gameplay
Nolimit City is known for its crazy themes, stunning designs, and intricate and innovative features. And Little Bighorn slot is no different – it’s a stunning slot that immediately makes you want to interact with it.
You’ll see flashes of lightning over the plains, as warriors ride from behind the reels to the edges of the screen, and there are loads of animations that help give the game a life of its own.
The view in landscape mode on my phone has lots of background visible but that doesn’t detract from the experience as it’s still easy to see what’s going on.
Portrait mode is maybe a little better, as there’s less background, and the 3x4x5x3x2 reel fits nicely from edge to edge.
There are 360 ways to win on Little Bighorn slot, and the game comes with an extremely high volatility rate. Consequently, the max win is a whopping €359,464.
Lastly, the hit frequency is 32.35% and that’s great because the average is between 20% and 30%.
Features
XMOUNT: SCALP WILD:
The Scalp Wild – which can only land on the reel that’s 5 symbols high – will turn all American soldiers into Wild symbols. Then, the Scalp Wild nudges and expands until it takes over the entire reel.
Each nudge represents an American soldier being scalped (Wowsers, the studio ain’t pulling any punches), and adds a +1 multiplier to the respective Wild.
TOTEM WILD:
Landing 1 or 2 Totem Scatters during the base game will transform them into expanding Wilds. Totem Scatters that land during the Free Spins round will also turn into expanding Wilds but these will award an extra spin.
You’ll see Totem Scatters landing on reels 2, 3, and 4 during the base game. They’ll only make an appearance on reels 3, 4, and 5 during Spirit Call Free Spins.
NO MERCY SCATTER – SPIRIT CALL RE-SPIN:
The No Mercy Scatter can only appear on reel 5 and when it lands fully there, it will initiate the Spirit Call Re-spin. The Scatter will now move to the first reel and initiate a re-spin after which it reveals one of the following bad-ass dudes:
Sitting Bull: These symbols turn into expanding Wilds
Crazy Horse: These symbols turn into regular Wilds. A +1 multiplier is added for each Crazy Horse symbol that lands on the grid
Two Moon: These symbols turn into regular Wilds
SCALP FREE SPINS:
You’ll need to land 3 Totem Scatters to kick-start this feature and you’ll be gifted 8 spins as a result.
If you land a Totem Scatter, it will give you an extra spin after transforming into a Wild. Scalp Wilds will now increase the sticky win multiplier by +1, while landed No Mercy Scatters will activate the Spirit Call Free Spin round and award 2 spins.
SPIRIT CALL FREE SPINS:
Landing 3 Totem Scatters along with a No Mercy Scatter will set this feature off and award you 10 spins. No Mercy Scatters will become sticky on the first reel and transform into one of these chieftains (for the same effect as in the Spirit Call Free Re-spin).
SCALP BET:
Take this option up for 50% of your stake and you’ll be guaranteed a Totem Scatter on reel 2.
BUY BONUS:
Instead of waiting for things to happen, you can buy the features you want:
Scalp Free Spins: 77x your bet
Spirit Call Free Spins: 490x your bet
Scalp Free Spins + Spirit Call Free Spins: 159.50x your bet for an 80% better chance of triggering Scalp Free Spins, or a 20% chance to trigger Spirit Call Free Spins
Performance
Nolimit City builds its games using HTML5 technology. As a result, you can play on any device and browser with no problems. I didn’t experience any hiccups while testing.
Maximum Win
I like how Nolimit City has included a sizeable multiplier (25,676x) to take the pressure off players. As a result, you’ll only need to sustain your bets at the max stake of €14 if you want a shot at that prize. For the rest of you, bets can start from as little as €0.20.
Conclusion
Nolimit City is one of my favorite studios, partly because they have no fear when it comes to courting controversy.
The theme of this game might raise some eyebrows (I’m specifically thinking about the scalped American soldiers), but considering that I’ve worked for Playboy and FHM, I’m not exactly the first choice when it comes to assessing how far they might have pushed the boat out.
I was confused by the pop-ups, though, that show General Custer along with copy that says: “Piece of cake” and another with American soldiers that proclaims: “Perfect strategy.” Last I checked, Custer and his men were decimated at the famous battle.
Nolimit City games can be remarkably complex, but this one didn’t feel that way to me. And that means I’m comfortable suggesting it for less experienced players who might like to see what’s possible with slot games.
Ultimately, this is a spectacular offering that I highly recommend.
