Lucky Bass Mega Cash Collect Slot Review

Japanese angler 🎣 Manabu Kurita is known for building custom fishing lures that measure up to 27 inches long and weigh around 6.6 pounds. That’s roughly 2.3 feet of plastic shaped like a fish – heavy enough to give you a workout before you even cast it.

His philosophy is “big bass eat big bait,” which apparently means hurling something the size of a small dog 🐶 into the water and hoping for the best.

Kurita tied the world record in 2009 with a 22-pound bass from Lake Biwa, though whether the fish was impressed or just confused by the absurdly large lure is anyone’s guess. 🤷‍♂️

This is Lucky Bass Mega Cash Collect slot, and it comes from Playtech.

Gameplay

The setup here is a 3-4-4-4-3 grid and there are 30 paylines. Visually, you’re looking at an underwater scene with bubbles drifting up, fish swimming past, and it’s as unimaginative as you might expect. Thanks Big Bass for setting this benchmark.

Low-paying symbols include a Pink Starfish and card values J, Q, K, A. The Starfish pays 2.5x for five-of-a-kind, while the card values all pay 1.5x for a full line.

High-paying symbols are fishing gear: a Fishing Rod and Tackle Box both pay 5x for five matches, followed by a Bucket with Fish at 3x, and a Lure at 2.5x.

The Wild is a rainbow-colored Treasure Chest that substitutes for everything except the Cash Collect symbol and any coin symbols.

The Cash Collect symbol is a cheerful fisherman who – and this is key – collects all coin symbols currently on screen. Coin symbols come in three flavors: Cash Bass (displays cash values), Free Spins Sword Fish (displays spin counts), and Diamond symbols (which trigger jackpot prizes).

The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
sits between 95.44% and 95.51%
(due to the buy bonus), volatility is high, the max multiplier is 2,949.7x and the max win is $147,485. The game only accepts fiat currency.

Features

MEGA CASH COLLECT:

Landing a Cash Collect symbol on reel 1 and/or reel 5 collects all coin symbols on the screen. Each Cash Collect you land will independently collect every coin in view – so if you nail two Cash Collects in one spin, both of them grab everything.

The coins themselves can display cash values, the number of Free Spins you’ll be awarded, or Diamond symbols, which represent the Jackpots. When collected, you either pocket the cash, trigger Free Spins, or win a jackpot prize (more on that below).

FREE GAMES (SPINS):

Land a Cash Collect on reel 1 or 5 that scoops up Free Spins coins, and you’ll trigger the round. The total number of Free Spins you get equals the sum of all the numbers displayed on those Free Spins coins you collected.

During Free Spins, Cash Collect symbols can appear on all five reels – not just reels 1 and 5. Any Cash Collect that lands will collect all coins on screen and then stick around for 3 spins. If a Cash Collect lands on the 4th extra row above the grid, it stays sticky for 5 spins instead.

The extra reels above the main grid start out with locks on them. Land a Cash Collect together with a Harpoon coin symbol and you’ll unlock one of the positions, starting from the bottom and working your way up.

Once you unlock the very top position on the extra reels, a frozen Cash Collect is revealed – and this one stays in place for the entire Free Spins round, collecting coins on every single spin.

Bubble Catch:

This mechanic only activates during Free Spins. Bubbles sized 1x1 or 2x2 can appear anywhere on the bottom grid (the main 5x3 reels).

These bubbles move up one position with every spin until they drift off the top of the screen. They can’t move higher than the top position, though – they just hang there.

When a coin symbol lands on the same position as a bubble, the bubble catches the coin and carries it up one position per spin. If a bubble holding a coin floats over one of the locked extra reels, it keeps that coin active so it can still be collected by a Cash Collect symbol.

When a bubble catches a regular Cash coin and that coin gets collected by a Cash Collect, the coin’s value doubles on the next spin.

It keeps doubling every time it’s collected until the doubled value reaches 10x your total bet or more – at which point it transforms into a Diamond symbol. When a Cash Collect finally grabs that Diamond, the bubble bursts and the Diamond disappears.

If a bubble catches a Free Spins coin and a Cash Collect collects it, the bubble bursts and the Free Spins coin vanishes. If a bubble catches a Diamond coin, it moves the Diamond up every spin; once collected, the bubble bursts and the Diamond is gone.

CASH SPREADER:

This special symbol only appears on the extra reels. When it lands, it spreads random coin symbols or Cash Collect symbols onto open positions on the extra reels.

The spread coins can’t land on locked positions or spots that are already occupied. After it finishes spreading, the Cash Spreader itself transforms into either a random coin or a Cash Collect symbol.

DROPPING WILDS:

Another extra-reel-only symbol, and this one’s a purple anchor. When a Dropping Wilds symbol lands on an extra reel together with a Cash Collect symbol anywhere on screen, the Cash Collect activates the Dropping Wilds.

This drops a stack of Wild symbols onto the main reels, directly on the reels below where the Dropping Wilds symbol appeared.

If there’s already a Wild on one of those positions, that Wild gets a multiplier instead of being replaced. The multiplier is capped at 3x on any single Wild position, and multipliers from multiple Dropping Wilds symbols are additive.

FISH SWARM AND HARPOON FEATURE:

During both the base game and Free Spins, a Fish Swarm or Harpoon can appear on any random spin. When this triggers, it can do one of three things:

Add stacked Wild symbols to the reels,
Add a Cash Collect symbol or other coin symbols (Cash/Free Spins/Diamond), or
Increase the value of existing Cash or Free Spins coin symbols already on screen.

CASH COLLECT PRIZES:

Land a Diamond symbol anywhere on the reels together with a Cash Collect symbol, and the Cash Collect will grab the Diamond and award one of four jackpot prizes: MINI (10x), MINOR (25x), MAJOR (100x), or GRAND (500x). The prize is chosen at random.

Testing revealed no issues.

Maximum Win

The max multiplier is 2,949.7x, and with a $50 max bet, that puts the max win at $147,485. It’s a decent ceiling for a high-volatility game, though not exactly life-changing money unless you’re betting near the top end of the range.

Conclusion

Lucky Bass Mega Cash Collect slot suits players chasing compounding mechanics in a high-volatility environment.

Money-making comes almost entirely from Free Spins; specifically from persistent Cash Collects and the Bubble Catch mechanic doubling coin values.

It’s helped along by the interaction between bubbles catching coins, those coins doubling when collected, and eventually transforming into Diamonds for jackpot prizes.

In the base game, you’re mostly grinding for enough Free Spins coins to trigger the bonus – regular symbol payouts are weak, and the Cash Collect feature on reels 1 and 5 doesn’t hit often enough to sustain a bankroll.

The Extra Bet is the consistency play here. Adding 50% to your bet for double the Free Spins trigger rate is reasonable math if you’re planning a longer session and want more frequent access to the bonus without blowing 100x on a single buy.

The downside is you’re still relying on Cash Collect landing on reels 1 or 5 and actually collecting Free Spins coins – the Extra Bet just makes it more likely, not guaranteed.

The Buy Bonus skips the grind entirely and dumps you straight into Free Spins with at least 6 spins. That’s enough to unlock a few extra reel positions, get some bubbles moving, and potentially trigger the coin-doubling mechanic.

However, 100x is steep, and if your Free Spins round doesn’t produce high-value coins or unlock the frozen Cash Collect, you’re left with a mediocre payout and a massive chunk of your bankroll gone.
