Lunar Rabbit Slot Review

It’s the Year of the Rabbit in 2023, so I guess at least one game will be cast in this theme. And that game happens to be Lunar Rabbit slot from GameArt.

But all this talk of rabbits got me thinking: why do magicians tend to favor these floppy-eared creatures if they need to pull a hapless creature out of a top hat? According to a legit magician, the answer is manifold:

Rabbits are cute, easy to handle, compressible (their fur makes em look bigger than they are, so it helps with creating illusions), they’re quiet, and they stay put when hidden.

So now you know. Let’s get on with the show, shall we?

Gameplay

GameArt has put an exciting spin on this Asian-themed game. For starters, it boasts a strange-looking rabbit, and this Cluster Pays game takes place across a 7x7-reel grid.

If you’re new to online gambling and don’t know what Cluster Pays means, allow me to shed some light. It’s when symbols that form part of a winning combination get removed so that others can take their place. The upshot is that you could have even more wins.

While you can play Lunar Rabbit slot in landscape mode, it’s best experienced in portrait thanks to the grid configuration which is stretched more vertically than on “normal” games.

If you’ve read a few reviews before, or are experienced with online gambling, you’ll know that looks can be deceiving. So, despite the weird rabbit and the cool animations, this game packs a punch.

The volatility rate has been set to “very high” (which could mean infrequent wins, but they could be sizeable when they land). The RTP is 96.55%, the max win is an astonishing €350,000, and there are no currency limitations. Whoop whoop!

Wins will fill that feature meter above the grid, and you’ll need consecutive wins to fill each segment (which will trigger its respective feature). I’ll discuss this in more detail in the section below.

After each spin, you’ll notice that a total win multiplier gets applied to the win amount. That multiplier corresponds to the number of features you’ve triggered in a game round.

Land 4 matching low or high-paying symbols adjacent to each other in a square formation and these will transform into a 2x2-sized Super Sized symbol. If one or more Super Sized symbol is involved in a win, it’ll double your moolah.

RANDOM RABBIT:

The weird bunny I mentioned is called the Lunar Rabbit, and up to 8 of them can drop randomly after any non-winning spin.

RABBIT RETURN:

On each spin, a random low-paying symbol will be highlighted. If a highlighted symbol is removed from a winning cluster, it’ll leave behind two 1x1 Wild symbols.

Jade Rabbit Wilds replace all symbols other than the Moon Wild. The Moon Wild returns the favor by replacing all symbols other than the Jade Rabbit Wild.

Features

I mentioned the features meter earlier, so lemme break down what happens whenever you fill a segment and set off its respective feature:

Explosion: Transforms up to 8 symbols into Wilds and removes adjacent symbols
Slice and Dice: Places a Wild symbol in the middle of the grid. You’ll then see 2 diagonal lines beamed out from the center consisting of the same random symbol
Destruction: Destroys all low-paying symbols
Swap Shop: This feature selects a random low-paying symbol and turns all similar symbols into a different random symbol

If you manage to fill all of the segments, that’s when the final feature (LUNAR RABBIT BONUS) kicks in. You’ll see a 3x3-sized Wild Jade Rabbit added to a random position on the grid.

If there are no more cluster wins, then this Wild symbol transforms into two 2x2 Wilds before ending up as nine 1x1 Wilds.

FREE SPINS:

You’ll be awarded 5 spins when you land one or more Jade Rabbit Wilds along with a Moon Wild.

The feature meter changes into a Free Spins Upgrade Bar during the round. Now, every time you land a Moon Wild, it will bolster the meter.

Fill all the positions and you’ll be boosted to the next level – that means more spins and the Jade Rabbit Wild also increases in size. From level 5 to level 7, you’ll be awarded multipliers (5x, 7x, and 10x respectively).

What you won’t see during Free Spins are the following features: Super Sized symbols, Random Rabbit, or Rabbit Return.

BUY BONUS:

You can buy your way into 2, 3, 4, or 5 of the features mentioned above for a cost of 50x, 175x, 450x, or 550x respectively.

Performance

Stellar; that’s what the performance was like while testing Lunar Rabbit slot. And it didn’t ruffle its feathers if I played using Safari, Chrome, or if I swapped devices.

Maximum Win

Check out these stats: a 20,000x max multiplier and a €350,000 top prize! It doesn’t get much better than that! You can start betting from €0.25 or go all-in at €17.50.

Conclusion

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. When I read the game's title, I expected to see a traditional Asian-themed offering. But Lunar Rabbit slot is complex, looks the biz, and has a lighthearted feel while offering a mouth-watering max win.

It’s a game aimed at more experienced players (given the very high volatility rate) and caters to those who prefer mobile play.

The features are many and uniquely interesting, and you can buy your way into them (even though they cost a small fortune, but hey – there’s a lot at stake here).

This game is a definite “must try” if you’ve got the appetite for the volatility rate and deep enough pockets.
