Getting blackout drunk – that’s the theme of today’s intro.

You see, writing these reviews is like method acting; I like to get into character so multiple beers and whiskeys and a good old fistfight last night got me feeling all Connor McGregor this morning.

Which is what I needed if I was going to review Mining Pots of Gold slot from Quickfire because the game features goddamn leprechauns. I can’t tell you how they irritate me.

So, my morning ritual was one we all know: run downstairs to see if the car looks like the Lambo in The Wolf Of Wall Street. Freaking out as I searched for my phone and wallet. And then there was the horror of seeing how much I spent last night.

Still, it could be worse. My one friend blacked out on his feet and woke up in a jail cell. He’d gotten aggressive and started shoving people around on the sidewalk just as the po-po drove past.

Apparently, freaking out about your car and wallet pales in comparison to waking up in a cell with Bubba next to you, with a self-satisfied look on his face. Or so my friend tells me.

Gameplay

Begorrah, but Mining Pots of Gold slot gets off to a festive start! As soon as you fire up the game, you’ll see an overly energetic leprechaun jumping about and clicking his heels together. That’s way too strenuous for me. And, as we all know, I’m hanging like a fruit bat.

Wild symbols (that damnable leprechaun dude) will replace all symbols other than Scatters. Wilds can also appear stacked and pay twice as much when substituting for another symbol.

A Wild Blackout is when Wilds land and take up all the grid positions. You’ll be awarded 2,000x in addition to any line wins, and this feature happens during the base game.

BONUS ENHANCERS:

Bonus Enhancers are overlay tokens that land on Scatters, and they’ll be collected in a Bonus Enhancer meter. You’ll be awarded prizes depending on the number of tokens you’ve collected:

Green Enhancer: Contributes to the Bonus Prize Indicator and awards a cash prize. You can collect up to 9 Bonus Prizes in the base game

Blue Enhancer: Contributes 0.5x to a multiplier indicator. You can collect multipliers with values of up to 10x in the base game

Pink Enhancer: Contributes a bonus spin and up to 12 bonus spins can be collected in the base game.

Bonus Enhancers reset once the feature is over and you can score up to 3 prizes, 2x Bonus Multipliers, and 5 extra Bonus Spins when you return to the base game.

BONUS GAME:

When you land Scatters on the reels, you’ll see they get collected in the pile of dynamite sticks under the cauldron. At a random time, you’ll trigger the Bonus game and you’ll get transported to another screen.

All of the Bonus Prizes, multipliers, and spins you collected during the base game can be awarded during this feature – up to 20 prizes, 10x multipliers, and 12 spins. The exact combo is determined at the point when the Bonus game triggers.

You’ll see 20 four-leaf clovers on the reels now and the Bonus Prize modifier can transform these into pots of moolah. These pots will stay fixed while the other symbols spin and hopefully reveal even more pots.

Conclusion

It’s a new world out there. Leprechauns are now fishing and mining and bringing their annoying ways to games they have no right to be part of. But there’s not much to be done about it. And if their magical ways result in wins, well then I guess I’ll have to make peace with it.
I was adamant that I wouldn’t enjoy this game but without first realizing it, Mining Pots of Gold slot started winning me over and I lay the blame squarely at the feet of the Bonus round.

I managed to trigger it after only a handful of spins and scored some serious cash on my first time out of the gate. And that was me: hooked.

I did wish that I could go into the game with a sawn-off shotgun and blast those wee f*****s into oblivion but after a while, I wasn’t even worried about them anymore.

The Wild Blackout is the feature I most wanted to land but it eluded me during testing. The other positive points are that the stats are exceptional (OK, the max multiplier could’ve been more generous) and you can play this game on your phone.
