Mystery of the Orient Slot Review
Is it just me or do you also think a babe wielding a sword is hot? There haven’t been many examples of the fairer sex brandishing blades on the big screen, but I racked the old grey matter and came up with a few.
There was Uma Thurman and Daryl Hannah in Kill Bill, Aishwarya Rai in Last Legion, and the majestic Gwendolyn Christie had everyone abuzz in Game of Thrones.
So, if this is your fetish, are you in for a treat! Mystery of the Orient slot from Pragmatic Play has a sexy samurai-sword-wielding stunner waiting just for you.
Gameplay
Check out the beauty to the left of the 5x3-reel grid in Pragmatic’s latest. She’s accompanied by tigers, coffers of gold, more swords, and a guitar-like instrument.
Playing in either portrait or landscape mode on a mobile phone or tablet is equally pleasing. The design is intricate and realistic – not that anyone cares – but it looks like the studio has put some love and devotion into this game.
By now you’re like: “Just hurry up and get to the good stuff!” OK, OK, here it is: there are 243 ways to win, a 96% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate., a high volatility rate, and a max win that’ll blow your mind, at €361,575! The only currencies you won’t be able to play in are the Japanese yen and Tether.
The Wild symbol is a coin (those old ones with a square hole in the middle) and it replaces all symbols other than the yin-yang Free Spins symbol. Wilds appear on reels 2 to 4.
Another symbol you’ll see is the Mystery symbol. If I'm right, these look like shoji (rice paper doors), and they’ll be present in the base game and during the Free Spins round.
After a Mystery symbol hits in the base game, it’ll reveal a Scatter, Wild, or Free Spins symbol randomly and each occurrence will yield a different result:
Scatter symbol: Land 3, 4, or 5 Scatters, and you’ll be paid 10x, 40x, or 8,000x your bet respectively (the latter being just shy of the 8,035x max multiplier)
Wild symbol: These symbols will reveal a random multiplier, which could be 2x to 5x, 8x, 10x, 15x, 20x, or 25x
Free Spin symbols: Land 3 or more of these and you’ll initiate the FS round
Features
FREE SPINS:
You’ll score 15, 20, or 25 spins if you land 3, 4, or 5 FS symbols. A Mystery symbol reveal during this round could see the Reel Size Increase symbol appear. That means the reel it's on will be boosted in height, up to a max of 6 symbols high.
Then there’s another symbol you might see – the Additional Free Spins one, which is self-explanatory.
BUY BONUS:
You don’t have to wait for the Free Spins round to happen. Just cough up 100x your bet and you’ll see 3 to 5 FS symbols land and then you’re off to the races.
Performance
Mystery of the Orient slot was flawless in terms of its performance. I gave it a go on 3 devices (my laptop, tablet, and phone) and it worked just fine throughout the hundreds of rounds of testing.
Maximum Win
Place your bets at €45 (the upper limit for this game) and land the 8,035x max multiplier, and you’ll have scored the top prize worth a staggering €361,575!
There aren’t too many games with a prize like this but if you’re not into chasing the big wins, you can always start betting from as little as €0.25.
Conclusion
If you’ve read my review up to this point, you’ll have realized that the objective of Mystery of the Orient slot is to land 5 Mystery symbols, which reveal 5 Scatters. That’ll pretty much see you rewarded with the highest prize the game allows.
But if you’re not that lucky – and let’s be honest, most of us won’t be – then the gameplay won’t be enough to keep most of us interested. There’s nothing much in the way of features or modifiers to fight for your attention, so the game becomes tedious quickly.
But, naturally, not everyone wants crazy action all the time from their slot games, so if you prefer things more chilled and predictable, then it might be worth checking this game out.
