Olympus TRUEWAYS Slot Review

Shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis took over the Greek 🇬🇷 national airline in 1957 and renamed it Olympic Airways. At the time, Greek folk had some distrust around flying ✈️, so he introduced a campaign offering free, short flights.

Sadly, Onassis’ son died in a plane crash in ’73, so that put paid to that – Onassis was done, and I’m sure it set the “you can trust flying” campaign back a bunch.

I didn’t crash while playing Olympus TRUEWAYS slot from BGAMING, but I did have some other issues. Please place your seat in the upright position and get ready for a bit of a rant. 🙉

Gameplay

BGaming was like, “We don’t need to make this 6-reel game look awesome. The features are amazeballs, and our players will love it for that reason.” We’ll see about that… Suffice to say, the design team didn’t pull much overtime with this one.

The Wild symbol is the god of lightning, Zeus, and he replaces all symbols other than Scatters. During Free Spins, each Wild has a multiplier of 2x, 3x, or 5x. There’s a Coin and Lighting symbol, but I’ll discuss these when it’s time.

The Scatter does nothing special other than triggering Free Spins. The high-paying symbols are crowns, helmets, axes, and shields.

So here’s the part that the design team was using as their excuse to get off work early: the game offers an astonishing 262,144 winning ways. That’s thanks to the varying sizes of the symbols that can land.

The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
is 96.84%
, the volatility rate is very high, the max multiplier is 5,000x, and the max win is $275,000.

The latter two could’ve been better, BGaming, considering the risk. #JustSaying. At least you won’t have to worry about which currency to use; they’re all good.

Features

COIN RE-SPINS:

This Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too). feature kicks off when at least 6 Coins hit the reels on a single spin in the base game.

Coins carry values, which could be 1x to 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, or 100x, and you get 3 re-spins to start with. Triggering Coins are sticky.

The Lightning symbol can make an appearance during this feature, and it can manifest in 3 sizes: small, medium, or large. Large symbols divide into two medium-sized ones, while a medium-sized symbol divides into two smaller ones.

The new units are empty, but new symbols can drop into these positions from the next spin onwards. If a symbol drops on a small unit, one of the large or medium ones is randomly chosen and then divided into two, with a win appearing on both of those positions.

You can score Jackpots in this round by landing their corresponding symbols.

The Mega Jackpot is won by filling all grid positions with Coins, but you also need to fill the lightning bolt in Zeus’ hand with Scatters. This happens whenever a Scatter lands; each one will take up a position.

Bizarrely, you won’t find these listed above the grid, as almost every other game does, nor will you find it in the info page.

How crazy is that? We’re expected to play for Jackpots that we don’t know the values of. I had to go on the studio’s website to find out that the Mega Jackpot pays a paltry 1,000x! And there’s still no mention of what the others pay.

Unless I missed something, I’m going to have to say that this is piss-poor, and from a studio that should know better – especially given the risk players are being asked to take.

FREE SPINS:

This round pops off when 4, 5, or 6 Scatters hit, and when they do, they’ll award 12, 15, or 20 spins, respectively. Landing an additional 3, 4, 5, or 6 Scatters awards 5, 12, 15, or 20 extra spins, respectively.

Wilds with Multipliers:

During Free Spins, Wilds will land with 2x, 3x, or 5x multipliers. The multipliers – if there’s more than one Wild – are summed up and applied to a winning combo.

BUY BONUS:

Pay 100x your bet for either the Free Spins or Coin Re-spins round. Dealer’s choice!

Performance

The reels spun like greased lightning. I don’t dabble in puns, but I know some of you like ‘em. Enjoy it; it won’t happen again.

Maximum Win

The max multiplier is 5,000x, and the max win is $275,000. Betting ranges from $0.10 to $55.

Conclusion

By now, you’ll have figured out that I’m annoyed with this game and the studio – particularly because of the Jackpot scenario. But being the level-headed individual that I am (or rather the extreme opposite, but trying to fake it till I make it), I’m going to move on from this.

If we look at the features, without leaning too heavily on the Jackpots (which typically don’t yield the highest payouts at the drop of a hat), we see a Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too). with Coins that can have values up to 100x. That’s not too shabby.

Multiplier Wilds in the Free Spins feature are also welcome, and having a Buy Bonus to get you into the zone with no mess, no fuss gets a thumbs up from me.

So, I guess what I’m saying is that if you’re not putting all of your eggs in the Jackpot basket, then there are other ways to make money, and that makes the game OK.

BGaming’s other offering with a very high volatility – Snoop Dogg Dollars slot – comes in with a 10,000x max multiplier and $400,000 max win. See what I mean? That’s how it should be, but I’m going to bow out gracefully and leave y’all to your decision-making. Peace out.
