oXygen Slot Review
I know a few people who have ethical issues with eating animals, so they’ve turned pescatarian. The one I know used to eat chicken until she saw a YouTube video of a rooster being all cute and cuddly with a child, and as quick as that, chicken was no longer on the menu. 🐣
But apparently, fish are dumb, so it’s OK to eat them. Well, that was my response to finding out about her pescatarian decision. So, naturally, I went on a mission to find YouTube videos of fish being cute. Because that’s the kind of asshole I am. 😎🫏
Fortunately, you’ll have no ethical issues with the fish you’ll encounter in oXygen slot from ELK Studios. The only issue you might have is if the little bastards don’t pay up, so on that note, let’s get our feet wet and find out what the game’s potential is. 🎰💰
Gameplay
ELK Studios has done an outstanding job with the design of oXygen slot. The 6x7-reel grid is under the ocean and you’ll see a variety of strange, deep-sea fish on the reels. And, these symbols can appear as 1x1, 2x2, 3x3, or 4x4 in size.
You’ll encounter 3 types of Wilds: the X-Blaster Wild, Exploding Wilds, and regular Wilds. When X-Blasters land, a random paying symbol is chosen and it will replace all paying symbols in an “X” shape.
When an Exploding Wild lands, it will remove all paying symbols around it within an “X” shape. As for regular Wilds, well they only replace paying symbols. Boring. 🥱
oXygen slot is a Cluster PaysUnlike traditional paylines, Cluster Pays can award wins when a minimum number of matching symbols land adjacent to each other (vertically or horizontally), forming a cluster. game so a win is created when you land at least 5 identical symbols adjacent to each other.
In addition, the game uses an Avalanche mechanic, meaning that winning symbols are removed so that new ones can take their place (and hopefully trigger even more wins).
Stats-wise, we have the following:
- RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.: 94% - Max Multiplier: 25,000x
- Max Win: $150,000
- Volatility RateSlot games can have low, medium, high, or extremely high volatility rates (or a combination thereof).
The less volatile the game, the more often it should pay out, but the lower the amount, the less the payout, as this is in keeping with the risk you’re taking. Volatility rate should be considered in conjunction with a game’s RTP.: Medium to high - Accepted Currency: Fiat only
Features
OXYGEN MULTIPLIERS:
You’ll see bubbles highlighting the positions on the grid whenever you score a winning combo. The multiplier is 1x on a winning combo, but each consecutive win will double the multiplier – up to a massive 2,048x!
The multiplier values are reset between spins in the base game, but they’re persistent during the Free Spins round.
It’s also possible to trigger the following modifiers:
- Multiplier Strike: This one places a random number of multipliers on the reels
- Collector: All visible multiplier values are collected (this can be persistent)
- Dealer: All multiplier values within an area are multiplied by the Dealer’s value (starting at 2x)
FREE SPINS:
Three Bonus symbols are what you need to initiate oXygen slot’s main feature, and you’ll get 10 spins to start. Multiplier values are now persistent and landing 2 or 3 additional Scatters awards 3 or 5 more spins, respectively.
SUPER FREE SPINS:
Land 3 Scatters, along with a multiplier modifier, to get into the Super Free Spins round. Once again, multipliers are persistent and you’ll have at least 1 active multiplier modifier.
You can re-trigger this round the same way as in the regular Free Spins round for the same reward; namely 3 or 5 more spins.
X-ITER:
In some territories, you’ll have access to the Buy Bonus feature which offers the following:
- BonusHunt: pay 3x your bet and in return, each spin will have triple the chance of triggering the Free Spins round
- Multiplier Strike: Pay 10x to guarantee this modifier
- Persistent Multiplier: This will cost you 25x
- Free Spins: 100x your bet guarantees you entry
- Super Free Spins: This option costs 500x
Performance
I didn’t experience a single issue while testing oXygen slot.
Maximum Win
Now this is what I like to see: all you have to stake is $6 a pop to be in line for the $150,000 top payout. And if you missed it earlier, the volatility rate is medium to high, so we’ve got nothing to complain about.
The minimum bet is $0.20 but the max multiplier is a gargantuan 25,000x!
Conclusion
Everything looks really sweet on paper: marvelous multiplier action, interesting modifiers, an insane 25,000x potential, two Free Spin rounds, and a game that translates well to a mobile device.
The only fly in the ointment comes about if you can’t access the X-iter Buy Bonus because then you’ll sit in base game hell for ages. Well, that was how it went for me. Spin after spin and not a Free Spins round in sight – and often, no modifiers either.
But when the stars align and multipliers start racking up, you’ll quickly forget about the discomfort of getting to the good stuff.
