Paddy’s Pot Mega Moolah Slot Review
When it comes to traditional Irish names for, it doesn’t get more typical than Paddy. Derived from Padraig – the Irish form of Patrick – the meaning of the name is said to be “nobleman” or “patrician”. Ooh, fancy pants. 🇮🇪
I say thank the baby Spaghetti Monster that Paddy became a popular name and not these other tongue-twisters from the Green Isle: Caoimhe, Tadgh, Máirín, Síle, or Aoife. I think I’d only be able to pronounce those after loosening my tongue with a barrel of Guinness.
This is Paddy’s Pot Mega Moolah slot and it comes to us from Quickfire. ☘️
Gameplay
Paddy’s Pot Mega Moolah slot is the antithesis of Leprechaun heist slot, which I’ve recently reviewed.
Whereas the latter is a super creative, left-field take on the theme, Quickfire has gone the boring route of rolling green hills, pipes, beer mugs, horseshoes, and hats with four-leaf clovers in the headband.
This game offers 20 paylines, an RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. of 92.03%, a medium volatility rate but – oh dear – a max win that barely wets the whistle, at €6,130. But… and here’s the critical bit… there’s a Progressive Jackpot on offer so don’t despair.
You’ll be able to play with fiat, as long as it's not Japanese yen, but crypto is out, unfortunately. Looking at the game on a phone in portrait mode you’ll see that the Jackpot bar moves above the 5x3-reel grid.
The reels and symbols are fairly small, but you can play it like this – as long as you haven’t left your reading glasses at home. Turning your phone to landscape mode will sort that issue out, though.
Symbol-wise, we have a Re-spin Wild, a normal Wild, and Paddy’s Wild.
- Re-spin Wild: Only appears on reel 3
- Wild: Can appear on any reel during the base game, Free Spins (including the last spin), and Final Re-spins
- Paddy’s Wild: Can appear on any reel during the Free Spins round, except during the last spin
Features
RE-SPIN WITH RETURNING WILD:
Hitting a Re-spin Wild anywhere on reel 3 awards this feature. The Re-spin Wild along with a regular Wild anywhere on the grid when the re-spin is awarded, will be marked as a Returning Wild by a green frame.
During the re-spin, the Re-spin Wild is the only type of Wild you’ll see – that is, except for during the final spin.
FREE SPINS WITH RETURNING WILDS:
If you clinch 3 Free Spin symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5, that’ll get you 10 spins – 9 of these to be used with the Returning Wild, and 1 for the final spin. Free Spins can’t be re-triggered, though.
RETURNING WILD:
Wherever the Re-spin Wild or Paddy’s Wild symbols land, they’re marked with a green frame – as a Returning Wild – until the last spin (of the Free Spin or Re-spin variety).
All those positions marked as a Returning Wild will turn into a regular Wild during the final re-spin and last Free Spin.
Land a Re-spin Wild or Paddy’s Wild on a Returning Wild and you’ll see another Returning Wild appear in a random position that’s not already occupied by one of these symbols.
MEGA MOOLAH PROGRESSIVE JACKPOT:
You’ll need to land 3 Jackpot symbols (these are labeled “Mega Moolah” and have Paddy’s face slapped on em) to trigger the Jackpot round. Jackpot symbols appear on reels 2 to 4.
You can be awarded either a cash prize – ranging from 1x to 3x your bet – or a Jackpot. The chances of triggering a Jackpot increase if your bets are more significant. Also, you’ll be gifted a cash prize of 2x each time you win a Mega Moolah Progressive Jackpot.
The 4 types of Jackpots are the Mini, Minor, Major, and Mega Jackpots. Once you trigger the feature, you’ll see the Jackpot wheel. Your job is to hit the STOP button but it’s not like the wheel screeches to a halt when you want it to.
After hitting STOP, the Wheel continues to spin and halts when it decides to, so you’re not in control of this action at all.
Performance
I had no issues with this game during testing. I tried it out on my phone, desktop computer, and tablet and all of these worked just fine.
Maximum Win
Yeah, so the max win is the smallest you’re likely to see – at €6,130 – so let’s all be thankful for those Jackpots. The max multiplier is similarly tiny (613x). Betting starts at €0.10 and taps out at €10.
Conclusion
The base game play is very same-same, which means that your mind might wander after a few minutes.
As far as my testing experience went, it took hundreds of rounds until I triggered anything worthwhile. My first Re-spin came about 500 spins in, so don’t expect nail-biting action.
I also found the features to be uninspiring, and they don’t tie into the theme at all, which is something that studios do that always disappoints me.
This isn’t a game I’m going to return to, but maybe that’s just me; it might work for you.
