The man invented pay-per-penalty, and Platipus Gaming has resurrected that idea with their latest offering, Penalty Boost.
Gameplay
The action happens in some suburban football field somewhere. The design is clean, colourful, and upbeat.
The studio has also injected some humour into the game, which you'll see when you toggle through the difficulty settings, which gives you a different type of goalie.
If you play on your phone in portrait mode, it feels like you, the shooter, are standing further away from the goalie than you would in landscape mode. But that's my only gripe while playing on a phone; the experience is actually really cool.
There are no symbols, no paylines, and no reels. The whole game is a ball, a goal, and a keeper paid to ruin your night.

The three difficulty levels are where the real decisions happen. Easy runs 20 steps and tops out at 100x.
Medium runs 18 steps and caps at 1,000x. Hard tops out at 15 steps with a 5,807x ceiling, against a keeper who saves a lot more often.
Performance
The UI was finicky. The Auto Play and Cash Out buttons are positioned behind the volatility toggles, and sometimes it's a bit finicky to engage with them.
It was a little bit harder still to change the bet sometimes and access the hamburger menu on the left-hand side for the same reasons.
Maximum Win
At the top bet of $5, the max win is $29,373, but it’s capped at $25,000. The max multiplier is 5,807x. The minimum bet is $0.20.
Conclusion
Penalty Boost lives or dies on Hard mode. Hard is the only difficulty with multipliers worth chasing.
Cash Out is the only decision that matters. Bail early or hang on too long, and you've gotten the timing wrong either way.
The 5,807x ceiling needs the full Hard table. And it takes a bet of $5 and 15 penalties in a row against a keeper built to stop them.
For low-risk players, Easy at the minimum bet is sustainable. The 100x ceiling won't change your week, but you can sit on the round for hours without bleeding out.
Balanced players should park on Medium. The 1,000x cap gives you a real shot at a session win without throwing your bankroll at a Hard-mode lottery ticket. For high-risk players, Hard at the $5 max bet is the only path to the $25,000 max win.
