Pyramid Linx Slot Review
There’s been a lot of debate about who built the pyramids – was it slaves or Israelites? The latest intel says that it was neither, that in fact it was normal workers who were paid handsomely and were well fed.
These workers were even given the honor of being buried near the sacred pyramids. Now I’m not ready to depart this world just yet, but you had me at “paid handsomely,” so let’s see if Pyramid Linx slot from Playtech will make my fortunes soar.
Gameplay
Traditionally, the color purple has been said to represent sexual frustration. It seems the ancient Egyptians weren’t getting any, if this game is anything to go by.
Playtech has offered us an intriguing grid configuration – there are 5 reels, but these are of different lengths, which is certainly eye-catching.
The game looks pretty nifty on my iPhone, although I did expect the grid to be a bit larger. The symbols are rather small but it’s not like you won’t be able to discern what’s what.
Regarding the current balance, I was confused for a while coz I couldn’t see it. Then I noticed it to the far left and that’s because I’d gone full screen. My feeling is that this element should have been more prominently placed.
Under the hood, we have an RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. which is okay (95.95%) and a max win of €100,000 – that purse is reasonable, I guess, considering the medium volatility rate.
Just a note to crypto players and those who usually roll with Japanese yen: Pyramid Linx slot doesn’t accept these forms of currency.
Features
First up, let’s talk symbols. The X symbol replaces all others except the Gold X, Circle, Pyramid, and Wild Pyramid. You’ll find the X symbol on reels 2 to 5.
Next is the GOLD symbol, which shows up on the same reels as the X. It can’t replace the X, Circle, Pyramid, or Wild Pyramid symbols.
The CIRCLE symbol can trigger the Wild LinX feature if you land it in combination with an X or Gold X symbol. Circles appear only on reels 1 and 2.
PYRAMID symbols are what you want for Free Games (you’ll need to land 3 or more to trigger that feature).
Lastly, WILD PYRAMID symbols replace all others except the X, Gold X, Circle or Pyramid ones. The Wild Pyramid is also a Scatter Pay and only appears during the Book Free Games.
FREE SPINS:
You’ll initiate this round when you land 3 or more Pyramid symbols, and when you do, you’ll need to choose between the Book Free Games and the X Free Games options.
BOOK FREE GAMES:
You’ll get 10 Free Spins here and each reel will now have 3 rows. A specific paytable (the Book Free Games one) is now applicable, rather than the main one. During this round, the following will happen:
A random symbol will be chosen at the start, and this will act as a special Expanding symbol for the duration of the round
Expanding symbols only expand if they can award more wins
After the regular symbol payout, each Expanding symbol might expand to cover all 3 positions on its own reel
All Pyramids will be replaced by Wild Pyramids
Landing 3 or more Wild Pyramids will get you an extra 10 Free Spins
X FREE GAMES:
If you choose this option, you’ll be awarded 5 Free Spins and you can scoop up an additional 5 Free Spins if you land 3 or more extra Pyramid symbols.
Playing on X Free Games also boosts your chances of triggering the Wild LinX feature. Oh, and you’ll be using the main paytable and winning bet lines now.
WILD LINX FEATURE:
This feature kicks off when you land at least 1 Circle, X, or Gold X symbol on all 5 reels. You must now click on each X and Gold X symbol in turn to reveal their prizes.
An X symbol might become a Gold X once you click on it and the feature ends when all the X and Gold X symbols have been chosen.
While I understand the whole thing of getting players to engage with the game and making their own choices, I’d rather have the symbols chosen randomly for me.
I say this because the experience of sitting and prodding the screen on my phone while on the go isn’t always a great one. But it’s not a big deal, to be fair.
Performance
Just like those age-defying pyramids, this game stood defiant in the face of the onslaught of spins I threw at it. Different devices or browsers had no effect on it at all, so go crazy.
Maximum Win
Step right up and place your bets! You can start at just €0.10 or max out at €50. When you go all-in and land the 2,000x multiplier, then the payout will be €100,000 – not bad for a day’s work.
Conclusion
Pyramid Linx slot is all about the Free Spins – so much so, that you’re offered 2 variations. Not that you get a lot of em; only 5 for X Free Games (although these are re-triggerable) and 10 for Book Free Games.
The Wild LinX feature is the game’s next calling card, but I have to say, I didn’t find it particularly exciting. And the gameplay became somewhat tedious over time.
So given the above, my feeling is that Pyramid Linx slot is okay but it’s certainly not exemplary.
