Reign of Rome Slot Review

Famous athletes who’ve brought home titles and been the face of a franchise often get adopted by the city and turned into living legends. It’s a recognition of the joy they’ve brought and how they’ve represented the people over the years. Totally fair—and pretty common. ⛹️‍♂️

But then there’s Russell Crowe, who somehow took it to a whole new level. Imagine going to Italy and being treated like royalty, with locals calling you the Son of Rome. 🇮🇹 All that… for one movie you made 25 years ago. That’s power.

Honestly, that’s a genius move if you’re trying to impress a new girl. Just go somewhere the people already worship you. I might try that on my next date. Oh wait—there’s no place on earth where that would work for me. 🙄 Fantastic.

But hey, maybe I can build my own legacy by crushing wins on the reels of Reign of Rome slot by Hacksaw. I’ve got nothing to lose… and neither do you. 😎

Gameplay

Ah, the constant battles within the city walls of ancient Rome. Power-hungry politicians backstabbing each other at every turn—somehow, that never seemed to get old. Now it’s your turn to leave a mark and rise as one of the greats.

With fire raging in the background, two Roman soldiers stare each other down from opposite sides of the 5-reel, 5-row grid. Both are decked out in heavy armor, full-face shields, spears, and massive round shields.

Both shields have the same logo, so theoretically they should be on the same side in this battle. Regardless, it’s a pretty dramatic backdrop with the dark colors and red flames.

Among the highest-paying symbols on the reels are goblets, crossed swords, helmets, roaring lions, and eagles. The game does use the CascadeOtherwise known as a Tumble, Avalanche, or whatever a studio sees fit to name it. The idea is the same, though; winning symbols get removed, and new ones take their place. This action could result in additional wins, in which case the action continues. mechanics, giving you a chance to increase each and every win.

You’ll find the red Buy Bonus button in the bottom left corner. I’ll tell you what it can do for you a bit later.

The game is built around the following stats: 19 paylines, a 96.27% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
, a medium/high volatility rate, and a 15,000x max multiplier. The studio has offered up a $300,000 max win.

Only fiat currency is accepted.

Features

TRIBUTE SYMBOLS AND LOOT LINES

There are special symbols in this game known as Tribute symbols. These guys are multipliers that award a cash prize based on their combined value—but only when they’re part of a Loot Line.

So what’s a Loot Line? It forms when you land a winning payline made up of Tribute symbols. The multipliers in that line will be added together, and the total is then applied to your potential win.

There are 4 different types of the Tribute symbols, all of them with its own possible value:

  • Adding Tribute - A blue ring around the position has values ranging from 1x to 10x.

  • Revealing Adding Tribute - The blue cross has a value of 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, or 500x.

  • Multiplying Tribute - The yellow ring means a multiplier of 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x.

  • Revealing Multiplier Tribute - A red symbol with a yellow X has a possible value of 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x, 15x, 20x, or 25x.

While Adding Tribute multipliers increase the Loot Line value by their own amount, Multiplying Tribute multipliers multiply the current Loot Line value. However, if a Multiplying Tribute appears in the left-most position of a Loot Line, it will be treated as an Adding Tribute instead.

It sounds a bit complicated, I know. How about an example:

A winning Loot Line that consists of 4 Tribute symbols with the values 3x, 4x, 1x, and 2x, will have a final payout of (3+4+1) x 2 =16.

FREE SPINS

There are 3 types of Free Spins in this game. The one you trigger is based on the amount of Scatters you land.

Path to Power

The FS symbol is the Scatter, and landing 3 of them triggers 10 Path to Power Free Spins. During Free Spins, the chances of landing Tribute symbols are higher.

You can score additional spins by landing more Scatters:

  • 2 Scatters - 2 extra spins
  • 3 Scatters - 4 extra spins

This is Rome

The second version is called “This is Rome.” You’ll need 4 Scatters to trigger 10 Free Spins of this type. This version includes everything the Path of Power feature offers.

Additionally, if a Tribute symbol lands but doesn’t form a winning combination, it’s stored in the Loot Bar below the grid. The Loot Bar has 5 positions, each corresponding to a reel. Symbols are stored in the position directly beneath the reel where they appeared.

Once all 5 positions are filled, you’ll be awarded the total value of the stored Tribute symbols, and the Loot Bar resets to zero.

Each Loot Bar position starts at 0x until a non-winning Tribute symbol is stored there.

Again, you can score extra spins by landing more Scatters:

  • 2 Scatters - 2 additional spins
  • 3 Scatters - 4 additional spins

Fight For Glory

When you land 5 Scatters, you’ll trigger the “Fight For Glory” feature and get 10 Free Spins. This one’s special—actually, you can’t even buy it, and it’s extremely rare to hit.

It includes all features from the other two Free Spins versions, but with a big twist: all Loot Bar positions start with a 20x multiplier.

All stored Tribute values are kept until the end of the bonus and then paid out as one huge prize.

Land extra Scatters to pick up more Free Spins:

  • 2 Scatters - 2 additional spins
  • 3 Scatters - 4 additional spins

BONUS BUY AND ANTE BET

Clicking on the red Buy Bonus button will line up 5 different options, including 3 Ante Bets.

  • Bonus Hunt - Each spin is 5x more likely to trigger a bonus game (3x)

  • Shield Wall - Guarantees at least 3 winning Tribute symbols on your next spin (50x)

  • Spears Out - Same as above, but includes at least 1 Revealing Tribute symbol (50x)

  • Path to Power - Triggers 10 Free Spins with enhanced base game features (100x)

  • This is Rome - Stores Tribute symbols in a loot bar, giving you a second chance at a big win (200x)

Performance

Everything worked perfectly and I didn’t experience any issues.

Max Win

The $300,000 max win is your to keep when you bet the full $20 and match it to the 15,000x max win. The game accepts bets ranging from $0.10 to $20.

Conclusion

There’s a lot going on in this game, and it can feel complicated at times, but it has a great payout potential.

The hit frequency in the base game is about 27%, meaning you can expect to score a win roughly every 3 to 4 spins. It’s not the highest percentage but it’ll keep things moving forward.

As for bonus features, the Path to Power Free Spins hit roughly once every 120–160 spins on average. From there, This Is Rome appears occasionally in the mix, while the Fight for Glory is extremely rare.

When it comes to Feature Buy options, here’s a quick breakdown:

  • BonusHunt (3x): Low risk, moderate investment.

  • Shield Wall (50x): Higher volatility, higher reward.

  • Spears Out (50x): Same cost but guarantees at least one Revealing Tribute; great for maximizing impact.

  • Path to Power (100x): Reliable and probably the best value for Free Spin seekers.

This Is Rome (200x): Good potential, but pricey.
In the end, this game is all about multipliers, and stacking them as high as possible. Both Loot Lines and the Loot Bar help make that happen. With the right mix of multipliers, cascades, and a nice scoop of luck, this game can be a great choice.

Reign of Rome slot doesn’t make things easy, but if you’re a player who enjoys complex mechanics, and interesting bonus features, it’s worth a shot.
