Return of the Green Knight Slot Review
The tale of Robin Hood has been part of my childhood ever since I can remember.
My mother dragged me to her best friend’s house; she would set me up in the TV room📺, and there were two VHS 📼 movies I would watch. The Neverending Story and the Disney version of Robin Hood🏹.
I must have watched both of those movies hundreds of times. Maybe even thousands.
So when I heard through the internet that they were making a new, updated reimagining of Robin Hood, I groaned out loud.
I’m a fan of re-imaginings. I loved Robin Hood as a fox🦊! But TV these days is a pointless, mindless wasteland of drivel.
I didn’t groan out loud or internally when I fired up Return of the Green Knight slot from Play'n Go. They took an Aurtharian story, stuck to the source material, and made it work for a video slot game!
So what the hell is wrong with all the television show writers out there?
Gameplay
We’re taken to the Kingdom of Camelot in this title to apparently witness the return of one of the Arthurian legends' oddest villains.
The titular Green Knight is a giant who can survive getting his head chopped off but is actually a lord of another land transformed by Morgan le Fay’s magic. But that whole story has nothing to do with the game we’re looking at today.
Although the high symbols look to be Sir Gawain, Morgan le Fay, King Arthur, and Guinevere, all the central characters in the original story.
Return of the Green Knight slot is a 5x3 slot with 20 paylines. Above the reels is a sword with 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, and 100x multiplier values, which come into play differently in the base game and Free Spins.
You can place bets between €0.10 and €6. Bear in mind that this is a fiat currency-only slot with the exception of the Japanese Yen.
Although I have it from trusted and reliable sources, I know that Bitcoin will eventually be added.
The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. here is 96%, and this is a very high-volatility slot.
The biggest multiplier you can achieve is a massive 40,000x your current bet, which can lead to a sizable chunk of change. The game's prize limit is set at €240,000.
Features
WILDS
The Wild symbol is a shield and two crossed swords. When a Wild lands and the multiplier meter at the top lights up, it settles on either 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, or 100x.
The multiplier amount is applied to any Wild symbols on the reels and is awarded if that Wild symbol forms part of a win.
Wilds substitute for all other symbols, with the exception of the Scatter symbol.
SCATTER
The Scatter is the titular Green Knight. It can land on any reel, and you’ll need to land 3 in a single spin to trigger Free Spins.
FREE SPINS
During Free Spins the Wild multiplier is progressive, so it increases on each Free Spin.
Landing 2 or more Scatter symbols during Free Spins will award you 5 Shield Spins.
SHIELD SPINS
During Shield Spins, the Wild multiplier locks on the multiplier value you were on when you triggered them, and all Wild symbols are sticky for the duration of the feature.
Performance
I tested out Return of the Green Knight slot on my gaming laptop and Android phone, and I didn’t encounter any issues during my playthrough.
Maximum Win
The lowest you can bet is €0.10, and the most you can bet is €6. The maximum multiplier is 40,000x your current bet, which can award €240,000; this game’s prize limit.
Conclusion
This is a visually impressive game. The animations are subtle but very fluid. The art style reminds me of a lot of tabletop role-playing game artwork.
The game’s mechanics are solid; a Wild multiplier can activate at random during the base game and is progressive during Free Spins. It locks in place during the second Free Spins round called, Shield Spins.
During Shield Spins, the game amps up the winning potential by making the Wild symbols sticky.
For such a low-stakes slot, the game limits the maximum bet to just €6, and the €240,000 main prize is very impressive.
Play N’ Go Games are known for their solidly built and well-crafted slots, and this certainly lives up to their reputation.
My only real criticism is the lack of a Buy Bonus to get into the Free Spins and Shield Spins faster. Other than that, give this one a spin.
