Rise of Olympus Slot Review

I’m going to confess something to you today, so please keep an open mind. I have a crush on a Greek god. Which Greek god you ask? No, I’m not talking about your friend Georgios who works at the Greek tapas place down the road. I’m talking Apollo, Dionysus, and Artemis. The Olympians. Yes, all 6 of them - 12 if you count the ladies, which I certainly do. I’m a busy girl - you could say I’m Greek god crazy. That’s right, I’m a sucker for Greek mythology, I’ll own up to it. I’ve even got a tattoo of Medusa, one of the Gorgons, and my personal feminist icon. She turns men into stone with a glance, what’s not to love? So, as I sat down to work today, you can imagine my excitement when I realised that I would be playing Rise of Olympus. A chance to hang out with my mythical polyamorous lovers and play slots? What a joy! I fired up the game and soon realised that only three of the boys had joined me - Hades (I love a bad boy), Zeus (he makes me feel all tingly) and Poseidon (not my favorite, a bit of a wet fish). Slightly annoyed that the rest couldn’t be bothered to arrive, I persisted and, lucky for them, I wasn’t disappointed.

Gameplay

Rise of Olympus is a 5 reel by 20 pay line video slot powered by software from Play'n Go. The symbols all very much stick to the Olympian theme, including a gold Pegasus coin which represents the Wild, Zeus’, Hades’ and Poseidon’s faces, a lightning bolt, a trident, a harp and a helmet. If you’ve played a Play’n Go slot before you should be familiar with the controls but if you’re like me and your brain turns to mush at the sight of mythical, animated Greek gods we can run through them quickly. On your left, you’ll find your balance display, as well as the toggle which controls the sound and the menu and information buttons. In the middle of the screen, you’ll see your bet levels, which you can scroll through starting at 0.20 and ending at 100. On the right hand side, you’ll find the Auto Play button, which will spin for you once you get tired of doing it yourself, your bet display and the spin button. No surprises here ladies and gentlemen.

Features

So, what features can you expect from Rise of Olympus? You’re in for a real treat here folks, this honestly might be one of the most exciting slots I’ve played, and I’m not just saying that because my boyfriend’s happen to feature in it. Random features will add wilds, destroy sets and transform symbols allowing you to access Greek god-worthy free rounds and loads of seriously otherworldly free spins. Additionally, the Wild symbol, represented by the gold Pegasus coin, can form winning combinations when substituting in a win.

Unique Features

This is a seriously action-packed slot, filled with big wins and unique features. The hand of god feature is triggered randomly on any non-winning spin. Each of the 3 gods, Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon, can create winning combinations. The active god will change after each trigger, with each of them offering something different and increasing your chances of winning big. The Wrath of Olympus feature is particularly unusual. Left from the reels, you’ll see the power meter which will trigger a free round once it’s fully charged. The meter has three sections, each associated with a different god, which are filled when you win with god symbols. Any 3 of the god symbols in a line will fill a section, 4 will fill 2, and 5 will fill 3 sections of the meter. Like most slots we review, Rise of Olympus also offers a Free Spins feature. However, this feature is only triggered when you clear the grid. You will then get to choose 1 of 3 free spin options. Hades awards 4 spins and a recharge of 4 spins, Poseidon awards 5 spins with a 3 spin recharge and Zeus offers 8 spins with a 2 spin recharge. Fewer spins means higher risk but a higher earning potential. Just feel it out and choose whatever feels right. I went with Poseidon, my least favorite boyfriend, and I still did pretty well.

Performance

This is an exceptionally high-quality game. The graphics are fantastic, the soundtrack is exciting and hearing Zeus, Hades and Poseidon announce their arrival when they appeared made me want to start shouting my own name whenever I enter a room. After trying Rise of Olympus out on all of my devices, it’s pretty evident that its performance on a tablet takes first prize. That being said, it worked well on my laptop, and mobile phone to and you can always chalk these things up to personal preference.

Conclusion

Rise of Olympus by Play’n Go is a marvel. While the theme may have been done before, it offers something that a lot of slots don’t - the chance to win big while staring at animated man abs. If that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, then I’d suggest settling in with a WWI historical novel for the evening, ya old-timer.
