Rolling Roger Video Slot Review

Aww, cute! How sweet! Isn't that adorable?!
I had to endure many starts and stops when reviewing this game, with passers-by feeling compelled to stop and watch ,or even worse, asking to play. I was sort of like the cool kid in kindergarten with the latest toy.
Worst of all, I couldn't show that I was enjoying Rolling Roger because it's doesn't really fit with my persona. This Habanero video slot has the fun of a young child's video game, and as such, you can't help feeling like a kid. So after screaming “leave my game alone – MINE!” and throwing a tantrum, everybody gave me a wide berth...
Finally, I was alone and could show the joy that this bizarrely addictive slot elicited in me. I skipped lunch because I never left my desk for a minute. I was in my “happy place, ” and I wasn't budging. (I could just pee in Clyde's coffee cup if I nature called.)

Gameplay

Rolling Roger is a 5 reel 25 payline slot with some of the most annoyingly adorable symbols you will ever see. The transparent reels show a fantastic wooded background reminiscent of Winnie the Poohs Hundred Acre Wood.
Let's start with the titular Rolling Roger – a wobbling blue hedgehog with a cute smile. Why is he called “Rolling Roger”? Well, there's a good reason for that, but I'll chat about it later. Roger is joined by his equally cartoonish friends – a snail, bee, worm, and frog. Completing the symbols are 10 and face card letters, together with a wild and scatter symbol (that literally have their functions written on).
The controls, which are set in the wooden framework, fit in beautifully but can appear imposing. They're really not and are very intuitively designed. The large spin button is on the right together with a Bet max and a Gamble Button. On the other side of you will find General Game Settings, Balance, Coin Amount, Bet Level and Autoplay. (The Quick Spin option is a bit hidden in the Game Settings) The Autoplay is a winner, with stop parameters based on balance decrease or wins.
In the center of the top panel is an acorn counter and acorns are accumulated after each spin, up to a maximum of 120.

Features

Scatters only appear if you've collected over 40 acorns. Landing 4 scatters is 10x your bet while 5 is 100x, plus landing 3 or more scatters also gives you Free Spins.
Each Free Spin costs one acorn, and if Roger rolls over low paying symbols, they turn into wilds and cost 5 acorns. What do I mean by roll? Well, we cover that in the next section.
There is also a gamble feature which pops up after each winning spin. Here you get a chance for a double or nothing bet on profits in which you choose a card which is hopefully higher than the dealers.
Unique Features
After each spin, Roger rolls from 3 to 15 positions, including the one occupied at the start. Every symbol rolled over is collected, and its count is increased by 1 (which is displayed in the rolling pays counter). If Roger rolls over a wild, all symbols counts are increased by 1, including yet to be collected symbols.

Performance

The music, graphics, and animation are sublimely sweet...and still I loved them! One might expect performance issues with so much action going on simultaneously, but Roger never skips a beat.

Conclusion

You might hate to admit it, but you're gonna love Rolling Roger. It's chockablock full of quirky anomalies and is a one of a kind funfest. Remember when we were kids and just enjoyed things unabashedly? That's how Roger will make you feel!
