My niece has an entire room full of unicorns in every shape and form. It's gotten out of hand – every birthday that's all she wants. What's the appeal of unicorns?
In mythology, they are said to be able to divine truth and be pure of heart. They're also meant to be untameable and have immense strength.
But from these noble origins, they've been reduced to a plushy toy industry.

Sounds pretty good I thought – fiery princesses are always a plus. (I once met a lively princess from the middle east – she was dreamy, but her entourage was a nightmare)
There's an undeniable elegance to Royal Unicorn that's noticeable right away. Its gorgeous backdrop sets a regal tone, and suddenly I felt like the pauper trying to win the hand of the princess. (The pauper part is accurate in real life…)

Gameplay

Royal Unicorn is a medium volatility 5 reel and 20 payline slot. 10-Ace icons are joined by a stunning array of symbols: unicorn, princess, crown, castle, flowers and gold bonus sign. The unicorn is the wild and can substitute for all symbols except the bonus.
I would have preferred the design of the controls to be a bit more aesthetically pleasing, but they work well enough. Up top is Info (including Paytable) while down below are Balance, Autostart, Gamble, Lines, Bet, Beta Amount and Start.
There's no Turbospin, but I never felt the need for it.

Features

• After each winning spin in regular play, there's a chance to gamble the entire profits or half on a 2X bet on card color or a 4X bet on color and suit.

• 3 bonus symbols on reels 2-4 activate 7 Free Spins, at the beginning of which a multi-stacked symbol is randomly selected. This symbol will be able to replace the princess, castle, crown and flower during Free Spins and create massive wins.

Performance

The graphics are almost like oil paintings and while not incredibly detailed, are pleasing to the eye. The music has a playful medieval feel to it while the sound effects increase the excitement but perhaps don't fit in with the theme.
I enjoyed this game on all platforms and it never gave a single issue or problem.

Conclusion

Royal Unicorn is like a fine box of chocolates that you bought for your girlfriend but ate on the train home – a guilty pleasure. (That analogy is a way of confessing my sin – it's unlikely she reads this review.)
The excellent Free Spins feature is enough to keep players spinning for hours, but it's the sublime atmosphere that will keep them returning for more.
