Rum & Raiders Slot Review

There are some brain-rattling questions that have plagued the world for centuries – what’s the meaning of life, what happens when I die, and what the hell is grog?

Grog was the favored mariner drink made up of rum, water, and oftentimes lime was mixed in to keep it fresh and stave off scurvy.

Rum was prevalent in the Caribbean as it was cheap to export to America and Europe. So inevitably, rum found its way into the hold of ships. Pirates, by their nature, hijack ships so it was rum that they drank the most.

So, that’s one mystery solved. It’s a pleasure.

Let’s get to grips with Rum & Raiders slot from 1x2 Gaming, me hearties.

Gameplay

We find a massive, listing vessel as the backdrop to this 5x4-reel game. It’s all brightly colored and upbeat, with a dramatic soundtrack added to the mix

On the reels, we find some characters – who are the crew members – but I’ll talk about them in the Features section below. For now, let me just mention that their names are the Captain, the Parrot, the First Mate, the Shooter, and the Grog Boy. Shiver me timbers!

Looking at Rum & Raiders slot on a mobile phone reveals that it looks pretty damn sweet. However, the symbols are tiny and difficult to see in either orientation, rendering on-the-go play fairly useless. Pity, that.

Scratching under the surface we find 40 paylines, an RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
of 96.08%, and a high volatility rate. Sadly, the pirate’s bounty is only €125,000. I say “only”, not because it’s a trifling amount of money, but because a volatility rate such as this would usually bring in €200k or thereabouts.

Oh, well.

Rum & Raiders slot would prefer you play using doubloons (fiat actually, but you get my drift), so there’s no crypto available here. Nor, as it turns out, can you use Japanese yen.

You’ll see Wilds on the reels, which will show up anywhere during the base game and substitute for all paying symbols.

Scatters also appear anywhere, and you’ll need 2 of them to get into the Broadside Bonus feature, while 3 Scatters are the entrance fee for the Hold & Win feature.

Features

BROADSIDE BONUS:

You’ll be given 5 cannonballs at the start of the round, and these are fired at a grid full of crates, revealing multipliers, skull symbols, or extra cannonballs. Each time you reveal the latter, it will award an extra round with another 5 cannonballs.

Skulls will double all of the chest multipliers. If you fill any of the reels with symbols, a 5-high Bonus reel appears to the right of the ship. Pull this stunt off again and the Bonus reel will appear to the left of the ship.

Destroy the crates and you’ll be awarded a 100x multiplier which is applied to the total win (and it will also end the round).

HOLD & WIN:

You need to land 3 Scatters to get into this feature and they will turn into flags when this round initiates, bringing with them random multipliers.

You’ll also get 3 spins at the start of the festivities. Each time flags or crew members appear, they’ll reset the spin count to 3.

As I mentioned above, filling any reel will add the 5-high Bonus reel to either the right or left of the ship. The crew members are the important symbols here, and each one brings something unique to the party.

All crew symbols start with a random multiplier value of between 1x and 10x.

The Captain: He adds the sum of the values on the grid to his own and doubles the value of random multipliers.

The Parrot: These symbols add their random multiplier value to all visible symbols.

First Mate: Adds the sum of all visible values to its own.

The Shooter: Doubles the multiplier value of a random number of symbols.

Grog Boy: Brings 1 to 4 bottles of rum and reactivates all of the prior special symbols that were used (except its own) for the number of times that there are rum bottles.

If you fill the grid with symbols, you’ll crack the 500x multiplier which is then applied to the total win and that will end the round.

BUY FEATURE:

If this option is available in your territory, you can buy your way into the Hold & Win round for 95x. The average RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. here is 96.19%.

Not only that, but you can also choose a crew member before you start for a little extra. Performance

I battled tremendously with loading the game on any of my devices when I first started testing. And moving from Chrome to Safari also didn’t seem to help. But that cleared up over time, so I reckon it was a me problem.

Other than that, things went according to plan.

Maximum Win

Iron Dog Studio has included a superb 25,000x multiplier, meaning you only need to bet €5 for a chance to scoop the €125,000 max win. The lowest bet level is a tiny €0.20 so most anyone should be able to handle this.

Conclusion

Hold & Win games aren’t exactly rare, so what I enjoyed was how Iron Dog Studio linked the feature to the theme.

I also liked how they brought crew members into the mix, with each offering some benefit. And the fact that you can acquire these folk in the Buy feature was inspired.

What won’t sit well with some players is the fact that playing on a mobile device isn’t the best user experience. If you play on a desktop or laptop, and you’re fine with the max win (which isn’t chicken feed, after all), then Rum & Raiders slot is a game worth checking out.
