Runaway Rhino Slot Review
Some people can be more hurtful with words than a kick to the gonads ⚽️⚽️. I was chatting with a colleague last week and we were discussing how old-school Central European women are known for criticizing others and running people down.
I don’t know if they do it deliberately, but the objective seems to be to get people to fall in line and do what’s expected. Which, of course, doesn’t work for me. 😝
You’ve got to have a thick skin when dealing with these Babushkas. Rhinos have skin up to 2 inches thick, but it’s still prone to sunburn 🌞 and insect bites 🪰and can crack easily. That’s a pretty crap adaptation if you ask me, considering where these animals live.
Anyhoo… This is Runaway Rhino slot from Crazytooth Studio/Quickfire.
Gameplay
Crazytooth Studio has brought some interesting design elements into its latest game. The SPIN button lives on a vertical bar to the right of the screen, which mirrors the totem poles that have replaced the reels. Then there’s the fact that the grid is a 4-5-5-5-4 formation.
There are 63 active paylines, and the game uses Any Adjacent Pays, meaning winning combos can be formed by matching symbols anywhere on neighboring reels (as long as they’re touching), versus traditional paylines where symbols have to land in specific patterns.
You’ll need to land at least 3 matching symbols on adjacent reels to score a win.
There are 2 Wild symbols in the game – one is predominantly red, while the other is more blue. They replace all symbols that aren’t Scatters and you’ll only see Wilds in the base game.
There are also Shields, which are Wild Multipliers. Every time one of these symbols is used in a winning combo, it will multiply that win by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 7x, or 10x, respectively. Shields only appear during the base game and won’t replace Scatters.
Then there are some passive symbols – meaning they won’t pay. There’s the Rhino Coin, the Prize Drum Increment symbol (look for something with a “+1”), the Prize Drum Upgrade symbol (look for a green “x”), and the Big Buildup symbol. These will come into their own during the Runaway Rhino feature.
Onto the stats now. The game’s RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. is 96.10%, it has a highly volatile math model, and you can win $178,048 off the back of the 8,902.4x max multiplier. Betting needs to happen with fiat currency, but not the yen or the ruble.
Features
RUNAWAY RHINO FEATURE:
Any spin could trigger this feature and this is where the Drums, which can live above the reels, will come into play. Drums can carry multiplier values (2x to 5x, 7x, or 10x), they can also be Wild Prize Drums that award rows of Wilds, or they can carry cash values.
Before the feature kicks off, a Prize Drum is added to its respective reel every time a Big Buildup symbol lands. Whenever a Prize Drum Increment symbol lands, the multiplier or Wild rows on that specific reel will increase.
Whenever a Prize Drum Upgrade symbol hits, the multiplier on that reel increases. Whenever a Rhino Coin hits, the cash prize on that reel increases.
One or more Drums will be selected when the feature begins, and what happens next could be as follows:
- If a Prize Drum is selected, random symbols on the grid will transform into multipliers Wilds.
- If a Credit Prize Drum is selected, you’ll be awarded its value.
- If a Wild Prize Drum is chosen, a random number of Wilds will be added to random rows
The feature ends when all of the selected Prize Drums have been awarded.
RUNAWAY RHINO BONUS:
You’ll trigger this feature by landing 3 Scatters and it’s a whole lotta fun! The studio has gone for gamification so you’ll be a charging rhino that’s running down a dirt road that’s divided into two.
You have two arrows – one pointing left, one pointing right – that you can use to direct said armored ungulate. But you have to click on the actual arrows, not merely in their vicinity, making things a little more challenging when you’re getting all excited like I was.
Your goal is for the rhino to collect Coins. You can also grab multipliers and even extend your time if you run down a clock symbol.
You’ll see the number of Coins you’ve collected to the left of the screen, and this is what you’ll be awarded once the feature ends (when you run out of time).
Performance
I have nothing negative to report, here.
Maximum Win
Betting ranges from $0.25 to $20. The max multiplier is 8,902.4x and the game’s potential payout is $178,048.
Conclusion
So Crazytooth Studio has gone a little cray-cray with their latest offering. For starters, there are no Free Spins or Re-spins. There’s also no Ante BetAn Ante Bet is an option that costs a percentage of your bet but increases your chances of landing triggering symbols that initiate a feature. or Buy Bonus but for once, I didn’t mind because the Runaway Rhino feature triggered pretty frequently.
What didn’t happen all that often was the Runaway Rhino Bonus game, but that’s to be expected. Once you sample it, though, it makes you want to play it again, and that keeps you spinning the reels. Smart move, Crazytooth peeps.
I really enjoyed the novelty of Runaway Rhino slot. The only thing I can nitpick about – which I must, coz it’s my job – is that the potential payout could’ve been higher, given the volatility rate.
But if you’re cool with chilling out, enjoying something different, and steering a rampant rhino toward a pile of cash, then give this game a try.
