Safari Chase: Hit ‘n’ Roll Slot Review

Growing up on the dark continent, you would expect me to have seen my fair share of wild animals. Alas, I’m somewhat of a city slicker – rarely venturing into the outdoors for extended periods unless I can’t absolutely avoid it.

I’m such an urbanite that my encounters with wild animals have been limited to the occasional mole snake and, my personal favorite, the rock hyrax.

The rock hyrax, known to us South Africans as a “dassie,” is a “terrestrial mammal” (yes, you read that right) native to Africa and parts of the Middle East. And despite looking like an overgrown chipmunk with thumbs, it’s actually most closely related to the African elephant. Neat!

They’re pretty cool little dudes, and yet they’re always overlooked in favor of the more impressive African wildlife like lions and water buffalo.

And such is the case with Kalamba’s new Safari Chase: Hit ‘n’ Roll slot – when are the dassies going to get some love?

Gameplay

Safari Chase: Hit ‘n’ Roll slot is a 5-reel, 1,024 payline game set in the African wilderness. We’ve seen this theme countless times before, but maybe Kalamba will bring something new to the genre – let’s see.

The sound effects are pretty inoffensive, so much so that I didn’t immediately slam the mute button as soon as the game loaded. In fact, the generic wilderness noises make a solid background for the graphics, which are cartoonish but also very much inspired by the safari lifestyle.

Safari Chase: Hit ‘n’ Roll slot looks great on a desktop and a mobile device, but if you’re going with the latter I’d recommend doing so using landscape mode. The reels shrink when used in portrait, making it difficult to access the controls.

The stats are decent too, with the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
coming in at 96% (industry standard) and the game offering a high volatility rate. Adjust your bet to the €5 maximum, land the top 50,000x (!!!) multiplier, and you’ll score the top payout of €250,000 – that deserves a slow clap.

Features

FREE SPINS

Landing 3 or more Bonus symbols triggers the Free Spins round. You’ll score 10, 12, or 15 Free Spins, based on how many Bonus symbols you land.

During this feature, your goal is to collect the Bonus Accumulation symbols, which transform regular symbols and award extra spins.

WILD

The Wild will substitute for all symbols except the Bonus and BONUS ACCUMULATION symbols.

HYPER BONUS

If you decide that the waiting game is not an option, you can choose to trigger 10, 12, or 15 Free Spins instantly by clicking the Hyper Bonus button below the reels, and paying an amount determined by your current bet level.

Performance

I tested Safari Chase: Hit ‘n’ Roll slot on my iPhone 13 and MacBook Pro, and I was pretty damn pleased with its performance. Throughout all of the spins I didn’t encounter a single glitch or buffering issue, regardless of the device or browser I was using.

Maximum Win

There’s quite a limited betting range here, with the maximum bet sitting at just €5. However, the 50,000x bet multiplier is absolutely massive and works to award the top €250,000 – now that’s generous.

Conclusion

Although Safari Chase: Hit ‘n’ Roll slot isn’t the most complex it has a couple of good features that help bring the gameplay together. Add in the graphics, semi-neutral sound effects, and huge maximum win, and we’ve got ourselves a pretty decent contender.

Now, I do think the theme is overdone, but sometimes that can’t be helped. Ingenuity only gets you so far, and sometimes consistent gameplay and generous payouts are all you need to get the betting jollies off.

Either way, I’ll definitely be coming back for more.
