Santa’s Stack Dream Drop Slot Review
Dream interpretation has been a thing throughout most, if not all, of human history. And it’s not just shady carnie folk who have dabbled in that particular pastime.
Jung revitalized the topic and got people all frothy thanks to his hugely popular book Man and His Symbols. And then there were TV shows such as Hemlock Grove with their Roma peeps. Humanity’s fascination with gaining insight into the past or present knows no bounds.
I was checking out the most popular dreams that Americans have and discovered some weird ones. Like, 1.1% of people dream about having glass in their mouth. Euw!
But here’s one that will resonate with most people: using technology that doesn’t work. Yeah, 7.8% of people dream about that. I’m betting they’re Windows or Android users.
OK, before I get lynched, let’s take a look at Santa’s Stack Dream Drop slot from Relax.
Gameplay
Man, I LOVE the old-school, 8-bit graphics Relax Gaming has gone with. For someone like me who shudders at the mere thought of Xmas, this game made me focus on the entertainment value rather than the horrid theme.
The game is rather unique in that it has 8 reels. It also uses a Cluster PaysUnlike traditional paylines, Cluster Pays can award wins when a minimum number of matching symbols land adjacent to each other (vertically or horizontally), forming a cluster. system, meaning that a set number of symbols (5 in this case) need to land next to each other and touch on one of the four sides to initiate a win.
This fiat-only game has an RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. of 94%, a high volatility rate, and a max win worth €250,000. The high-paying symbols are made up of Santa, presumably Mrs. Clause, an elf, and Rudolf. The red “W” is the Wild and it replaces all symbols.
Features
SECRET SANTA:
This feature kicks off when a Wild is part of a winning cluster. Those clusters will subsequently turn into Mystery symbols (these look like gift boxes) which will become sticky, and you’ll also be awarded a re-spin.
Land a new win in a position adjacent to the Mystery symbols and the symbols involved in the new win will also convert to Mystery ones, awarding an extra re-spin.
The feature ends when no new winning clusters are formed, or your re-spins run out. At that point, all Mystery symbols will convert into the same, random symbol.
FREE SPINS:
You’ll start the Free Spins round by landing 3 or more Bonus symbols and that’ll get you 5 spins. Any additional landed Bonus symbols will award an extra spin and it’ll also bump up the multiplier by +1 each time.
The Secret Santa feature is active during Free Spins; in that case, a Wild is guaranteed to land at the start of each spin. The number of these landed Wilds will increase each time, starting with 1 Wild, of course.
DREAM DROP BONUS:
This bad boy can be triggered randomly before any spin. When it happens, you’ll see 15 Mystery symbols on the reels. You’ll need to select 3 of the same to trigger the concomitant Jackpot.
Jackpots take the form of a Rapid, Mini, Maxi, Major, or Mega Jackpot. The prize values are shown on screen, and as this is a progressive Jackpot, the prizes will change over time.
Performance
Stellar, that’s how this game performed. Even though the graphics are deliberately 8-bit, the tech running Santa’s Stack Dream Drop slot is anything but old school. As a result, I didn’t have any problems during testing.
Maximum Win
Now these are the kinda stats I like to see: a max win of €250,000, a max multiplier of 20,000x, and a betting range of €0.20 to €12.50. That’s the gift that keeps on giving.
Conclusion
Relax Gaming gave the OG version of the game an upgrade by introducing the Dream Drop element, which was a good call.
As it is, you can sit through spin after spin with barely any action – save for the Secret Santa feature, which is not bad, and gets better as the Mystery symbol start piling up – but as soon as that DD sign lights up, the adrenaline kicks in and it’s all worth it.
I was surprised to find that Santa’s Stack Dream Drop slot isn’t all that mobile-friendly, though. The grid is on the small side, in either orientation, meaning you must squint a bit to see what’s up.
Overall, I was happy with this game. It’s a nice take on an overused, annual theme, making it one of the few in the genre I’d bother to play.
