Santa's Village Slot Review

Being a dutiful Uncle, the role of playing Santa every Christmas falls to me. My younger brother has two kids who are still at the age where they haven't spotted the fact that I'm never around when Santa arrives. The prosthetics and makeup have become more and more elaborate over the years. My sister in law has remarked that my ever increasing middle-aged beer belly is brilliant for the role. In fact – I think they fatten me up during the year specifically!

There's something unifying about Christmas that can bring together even the most dysfunctional families. (I speak from experience.) Invariably it's the time of the year to forgive and bury the hatchet – obviously not literally, apart from the time Aunt Muriel went a little cray-cray.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Today I'm looking at a progressive video slot called Santas Village created by Habanero. It's bright, festive and sure to bring some holiday cheer whether you play it on a PC, mobile device or tablet. I felt warm and fuzzy right away playing Santas Villiage. My broken airconditioner caused the warmth, but the feelings of joy and kindness were definitely brought by this endearing slot.

Gameplay

You're in for some volatility because Santas Village is a 5 reel, 15 payline slot. The only non-holiday themed symbols are the face card letters. They aren't enough to spoil the party though because the rest are: a present, Santa, Reindeer, wreath, stockings, baubles, candles and candies.
The present is the wild and can substitute for anything.
The controls are neatly placed at the bottom of the screen: Info (including Paytables) Bet size, Bet Level, Bet Max, Spin, Autoplay, Coin value, and Total Coin display. Below that are your Game Settings (including Quicksping and all instructions), Balance and Bet value.

Features

Every time the Santa symbol is part of a winning combination in regular play, the Map Feature is triggered. (Wilds are never used in the triggering combo.)
Santa starts on a brown dot and strolls down the lane advancing one dot for each of his symbols. The overall direction of a journey is selected randomly. Santas position is always saved on the map, and he can only move forward. When he reaches a Blue Dot one of three bonus features are allocated:

  • Santa Free Games:
    12 Free Spins are awarded in which the Santa Symbol does not pay but rather substitutes for all symbols. Santa will appear once or twice on each spin, but never on adjacent reels. Santas appearing in a winning combination expand and cover the entire reel before payout.

  • Sleigh Free Games:
    12 Free Spins are awarded. 2-4 additional wild symbols can randomly appear on the reels before they stop.

  • Sticky Re-Spins:
    12 Free Spins are awarded. Any winning payline will trigger 2 Sticky Re-Spins and an additional extra Free Spin. Winning combinations remain in place while the Sticky Re-Spins are active and are cleared on completion.

Unique Features

There's the ever-present chance (see the pun there?) of winning a randomly allocated Progressive Jackpot in Santas village. Now wouldn't that come in handy at any time of the year?

Performance

The graphics breathe hospitality and are so inviting that you can't help loving them. The animations of Santa are cute but not detailed. The music and effects drive the holiday spirit home efficiently. Performance wise, despite the slew of features, Santas village coasted through all my tests.

Conclusion

Even the Grinchiest of players will adore this slot because the Free Spins features are amongst the best out there. For the rest of us who like Christmas, we can enjoy it anytime of the year now – with the chance of some fantastic gifts a spin away!
