The review of Shadow Summoner Elementals slot from Relax is looooong, so I’m going to keep this intro as short as possible. 👏

Gameplay

Wow, what a stunning game! Shadow Summoner Elementals slot has 6 reels that are filled with stunningly rendered creatures that have these animations that make them seem so lifelike.

The high-paying symbols are made up of 3 types of dude demons, and 1 pixie-eared, horny babe (she has horns; it ain’t my fault).

The Wild symbol only appears in the Spread feature (I’ll discuss this later) and replaces all regular symbols.

Multiplier symbols can appear on the middle 4 reels during the base game as well as in the Free Spins round. The values these Multiplier symbols can take could be 2x to 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, or 100x.

There are also 4 types of book symbols that you’ll find in the game on the middle 4 reels:

  • Tome of Ice: this purple book also appears on Level 1 to 4 in Free Spins
  • Tome of Corruption: this green book also appears on Level 2 in Free Spins
  • Tome of Thunder: this yellow book also appears on Level 3 and 4 of Free Spins

As for the last one – Tome of Flame – this red book appears on all of the reels in the base game, as well as on Level 4 of Free Spins.

As for the Levels, you level up by filling the meter to the left of the grid by scoring winning combinations. That’s how you’ll cycle through the purple, green, and yellow Tomes, all the way to the red one.

You’ll see where you’re at by the color of the Tome at the top of the meter and by looking at the highlighted icons in the circular Elementals Meter to the left of the screen.

Circling back to the wins, these happen when 8 or more matching symbols hit. Then, an Avalanche mechanism is triggered – all winning symbols are removed and new symbols fall down to take their place. If that triggers another win, then the process keeps repeating.

After an Avalanche, any multipliers on screen will have their values added together and the total Avalanche win will be multiplied by that multiplier value.

ELEMENTALS METER:

This meter reflects the 4 Levels in the game. Every symbol in a winning combo adds 1 point to the meter, as is the case with Wilds when they substitute in a winning combo; even in the case of multiple Wilds involved in a win.

Nail 200 points, and the Meter levels up. This unlocks a new Elementals icon and their corresponding features.

  • Level 1 unlocks the Tome of Ice and the Spread feature
  • Level 2 unlocks the Tome of Corruption and the Explosion feature
  • Level 3 unlocks the Tome of Thunder and the Re-spins feature
  • Level 4 unlocks the Tome of Flame and Upgrade feature

Once the meter is filled, unlocked Elementals symbols can land on the reels and kick off their respective feature.

After playing a Free Spins round, the Elementals Meter will reset and go back to Level 1 but this doesn’t happen during the base game. In the latter case, your meter levels carry through from spin to spin.

Spread feature
When there are no wins, Tome of Ice symbols landing on the reels initiate the Spread feature. The purple symbols transform into Wilds, and up to 4 surrounding regular symbols can also transform into Wilds.

Explosion feature
Tome of Corruption symbols that land on the reels initiates this feature when there are no wins or purple books on the reels. Green books will now explode, removing regular symbols within a 3x3 area adjacent to the symbols.

Re-spins feature
Landing yellow books on the reels when there are no wins or purple or green books present, initiates the Re-spins feature.

Up to 12 regular symbols will be removed from the grid, and a multiplier will be spawned wherever the yellow book lands. The value of the multiplier is the same as the number of regular symbols that were removed. And after all this, an Avalanche is also activated.

Upgrade feature
No wins and no purple, green, or yellow books on the reels means that red books landing will trigger this feature.

Now, 1 to 4 low-paying symbols will be randomly selected and upgraded to their corresponding high-paying versions. And the Tome of Flame symbol itself transforms into a random high-paying symbol.

FREE SPINS:

The Free Spins round kicks off when 4 Bonus Scatters land in the base game on Level 4. You’ll start the round on Level 0 and 4 spins will be awarded.

The 4 Tomes will be represented under the grid, and they will land on the reels and bring their features to bear in order.

SCATTER BOOST BET:

Conclusion

Shadow Summoner Elementals slot is a stunning game that is complex enough that I wouldn’t recommend it to newbies.

This has been a lengthy review so I won’t belabor the issues I’ve mentioned above but suffice to say, the stats this game rests on are excellent.

If I had to gripe about something, it would be only qualifying for Free Spins on level 4. Even though you can cycle through the meter and the Levels quicker than expected, it still makes me feel like we’re being pushed towards using the Buy Bonus.

Also, only getting 4 spins for the feature, and paying 100x for that in the Buy Bonus, is a bit rough. You can, of course, re-trigger the Free Spins, but there’s no guarantee of that happening (although I nailed the re-triggers quite consistently).

What is a win though, is when multipliers come into play during Free Spins, as you can rack up some decent ka-ching.
