Ternion Slot Review
What, exactly, is a Ternion? Rather than a single thing, it’s the name of a team of superheroes and the title of Play'n Go’s latest game, Ternion slot.
Let’s set the scene: a Doomsday Device has been activated and Earth is under threat from monsters, natural disasters, and meteors – and, as you’ve probably guessed by now, only the Ternion can save the day. ☄️
It sounds like Marvelosa, Windstorm, and The Incredible Wonder have their collective hands full. So if you’re a Marvel or DC Comics fan or you like to dress up as a pink Wookie and hang out at Comic-Con with other people who aren’t getting laid, then this one’s for you. 🦸♀️🦸♂️
Gameplay
Meet Marvelosa (she’s the blonde in the green catsuit. Yum!). She wields a pair of fantastic… electric-green laser beams. You thought I was going to say something else, didn’t you?
The Incredible Wonder is a Ken doll type of dude who “brings furious fire” with his burning, orange eyes.
Windstorm rocks a blue catsuit (also yum) and she unleashes a flurry of ice and unpleasantness – much like my ex-wife.
Now that we’re done with the introductions, let’s get to it. The 5x4-reel, 20-payline grid is opaque, which is an excellent touch as you can see the arachnid-like alien behind it, which gives the game a sense of depth and realism.
Besides our intrepid heroes, you’ll also find Wilds in this game which replace all other symbols except Scatters. There are also Crystal symbols – you’ll know them when you see them – and I’ll chat more about these below.
Ternion slot comes across as all cool and comic book-ey, but beware: it has balls! It’s a highly volatile game with an RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. of 96.20% and a max win of €250,000. Oh yeah! The largest multiplier you can clinch isn’t that large – at 5,000x – but I’ve seen worse.
As far as currencies go, fiat is the one you’ll have to wield. Just not the Japanese yen, please.
While the game looks fantastic on a desktop, laptop, or tablet, it’s less impactful on a phone. But that’s not to say it’s terrible – the see-through grid and the expanded symbols ensure you know what’s going on, so you can comfortably play this game on the go.
Just watch out that Ternion slot doesn’t time out on you. It happens after just a short while.
Features
ICE SHARDS:
When Windstorm appears, she’ll randomly turn 3 to 10 symbols into Wilds during the base game, or 3 to 16 symbols into Wilds during the Free Spins round.
BLADE FLURRY:
Marvelosa replaces all low-paying symbols from the grid during the base game with superhero high-paying ones. During the Free Spins round, she’ll replace the purple Crystal symbols too.
PILLARS OF FLAME:
Now it’s the turn of Ken. I mean The Incredible Wonder. He turns 1 to 3 reels in the base game, or 1 to 4 reels in the Free Spins round, into fully stacked Wilds.
FREE SPINS:
Hitting 3, 4, or 5 Scatters awards 8, 10, or 12 Free Spins. You can re-trigger the Free Spins round, too – 3, 4, or 5 more Scatters will get you an additional 4, 5, or 6 spins respectively – up to a max of 35 spins.
Collecting Crystal symbols fills up a meter to the left of the grid. If you fill it up 2x, that’ll trigger a random superhero feature. But if you charge the meter 4x or 5x, you’ll trigger 2 or 3 superhero features simultaneously.
If a Wild lands on top of another Wild, that will boost the current multiplier by 1x.
Performance
I had no issues with this game during my time testing it. But as I said, it does time out easily so you’ll need to keep the action going if you don’t want to reload all the time.
Maximum Win
Place your bets from just €0.20 all the way to €50 and if you land the 5,000x max multiplier at the largest bet, you’ll clinch the €250,000 top prize.
Conclusion
I love that Play’n GO has come up with such a cool theme and, let’s be real, it’s an awesome idea for a slot game. There’s just so much you can do with superheroes and their powers, after all.
On that note, I feel like the studio could’ve gone further with the features, but it’s not like this is a dealbreaker. They’ve kept the gameplay simple and there’s enough action during the base game to stave off any serious bouts of boredom.
Ternion slot’s stats are solid, too and mobile play is possible, so you’ve got many positive reasons to give this game a go. I’m not a comic book/superhero kinda guy but I really enjoyed the theme – it’s such a welcome change from the usual stuff.
