The King Panda Slot Review
“Cmon team – we need to come up with a fresh idea for a slot!” The way I see it, the concept for The King Panda (a new classic slot by Booming Games) must have come after a night of heavy partying. As the team collapsed on the floor, they exchanged ideas about mixing two themes in one: “What about cheese rollercoasters?” “How about ninja dinosaurs?” And then – like all real inspiration – a lightbulb went off in a junior software engineers head: “I've got it! I've got it! Queen Tiger – a slot about a tiger that is a Beyonce impersonator!” “Genius!” they all proclaimed! The next morning it nixed by management, for fear of incurring the wrath of the queen of pop. But, an idea had been born and by late in the day it had been revised and fully formed– The King Panda – a panda that's dressed like Elvis! After all, Elvis was kinda tubby at the end, wore a trademark white costume and looked like a bit like a panda. King Panda is designed to work on all devices and right from the start I was keenly aware of the fact that the madness which inspired this slot might, in fact, be genius. I was bemused and entranced at the same time. Enjoying myself, feeling happy, but not sure exactly why…
Being a classic slot, King Panda has 3 reels and 1 payline. This makes the wins few and far between, but very lucrative when they do arrive! The symbols are headed by the King himself – a Panda who can rival any Elvis impersonator on the Vegas Strip. He's joined by a golden record, glitterball, microphone and various bar logos. The layout of controls is beautifully presented but took a while to get used to: The Total Bet and Win amounts are displayed on either side of the reels. Below them are Bet amount, 1-3X Bet Size Increaser, Spin, Max Bet and Autoplay. Underneath all of that, we have the Total Balance and Settings. It's worth mentioning that there's no Quickspin.
Land 3 of a kind on the payline and get ready for some big wins! There's no confusion here – spin to win, that's all folks.
King Panda danced through my benchmark tests without raising a sweat. The graphics are delightful, with the King himself being undeniably lovable. The sound effects are realistic, and the music is fantastic to listen to…for the first 10 minutes. (There's only so much of an instrumental of “Teddy Bear” that a relatively sane human being can take.)
It boils down to whether you're a fan of classic slots or not. If you are, then The King Panda is a far superior offering than so many of the generic ones out there. If you're “lonesome tonight” and slots "are always on your mind", then it's time for "a little less conversation" and a lot more action with this groovy slot!
