One of my favorite books of all time is Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley.
The book was written in 1931, almost 100 years ago, and it predicted our world better than any more recent popular dystopian novels.
If you haven’t read it, Huxley describes a world in which everyone is perfectly happy all the time. This is ensured through genetic engineering, brainwashing, constant entertainment, and mood-altering drugs. Does that sound familiar at all?
What also fascinates me about Huxley is that he was once commissioned to adapt Lewis Carroll’s, Alice in Wonderland into a screenplay for Walt Disney. I can only imagine the hellscape Huxley would have turned Wonderland into.
The titular Red Queen in The Red Queen slot by Pragmatic Play is inspired by a character from Wonderland. The Red Queen, often confused with the Queen of Hearts, is actually from Lewis’s second Alice book, Through the Looking-Glass. Which is an even creepier book than the first novel.
Gameplay
The Red Queen slot focuses on the villain, The Red Queen. The Queen is a high-paying symbol, as are the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, and the narcoleptic Dormouse.

BONUS ROUND
The Red Queen slot calls the Re-spin round the Queen Re-spin. You can only trigger it by landing 2 or 3 Bonus symbols, unlocking the 6th reel, and then landing the Queen symbol.
When you trigger the Bonus round, you’re awarded 1 Re-spin in which all 6 reels spin. The triggering Bonus symbols stay in place and transform into Wilds after the Re-spin with a random 2x, 3x, or 5x multiplier.
The Wilds apply to all winning combinations they form part of, and if more than one multiplier is part of the same combination, their multipliers multiply each other.
FREE SPIN
Landing 3 or 4 Bonus symbols triggers the Free Spin feature. Before the Free Spins round starts, a clock appears. The clock hand spins and randomly stops on an hour, awarding the number of Free Spins equal to the hour.
During this round, the 6th reel is always active and contains normal paying symbols. Above reels 2 to 5 sits an extra reel showing 4 soldiers. On every spin, the soldiers can show a random modifier that is applied to the respective reels below:
- +Ways: Guarantees that symbols are split into 2 or 4 symbols randomly.
- +Wild: Guarantees that a Wild symbol with a multiplier hits.
- +1 Spin: One more Free Spin is awarded.
MYSTERY SYMBOLS
The Mystery symbol can land at any time, and after the triggering spin, it transforms into 2, or 4 instances of the same paying symbol at random.
Performance
I didn’t experience any bugs or glitches playing The Red Queen slot on my desktop PC or Android phone.

Conclusion
The locked 6th reel and the additional row during the Free Spin feature make the Bonus round significantly different to other Bonus games from similar games, and keeps the action interesting.
The 2,985,984 ways is an insanely high number in any game! But the most important point about The Red Queen slot is the maximum win. The €380,000 prize on a slot with medium to high volatility is basically unheard of and will get any high-roller spinning furiously.
