Train of Riches Capital Express Slot Review
In August 1963, a 15-member gang pulled off what’s still called “the heist of the century” – the Great Train 🚂 Robbery near Bridego Bridge in Buckinghamshire, England.
They hijacked a Royal Mail train hauling £2.61 million (worth about £62 million today) and made off with 120 mailbags stuffed with cash in under 30 minutes. Most of the loot was never recovered. 😲
Fast-forward to 2026, and we’ve got Train of Riches Capital Express slot from Evoplay, where we’re hoping for a payday without a potential prison sentence. 🚓
Gameplay
The design language is more mumble than high-brow articulation, but I guess it doesn’t matter as long as the game makes us rich. Things look better on a phone – especially in portrait mode – and the lack of distractions goes a long way towards a pleasing end result.
The game unfolds on a 5-reel, 3-row grid with 25 paylines. The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. sits at 95.9%, volatility is medium, the max win caps at $249,000, and the max multiplier is 1,245x.
Bet limits run from $0.20 to $200, and the only currency that won’t get you on board is LTC (Litecoin).
The high-paying symbols include a Diamond (10x for five), a Safe (8x for five), a Money Bag (6x for five), and Gold Coins (4x for five).
The low-paying crew – A, Q, K, J, 10 – all pay identically: 2x for five matches, 0.4x for four, and 0.2x for three.
The Wild symbol substitutes for all regular symbols except Scatter and Bonus, and only appears on reels 2 to 5 in both the main game and Free Spins.
The Scatter (in the form of a ticket) lands exclusively on reels 2, 3, and 4. Three Scatters trigger 8 Free Spins, and Scatters pay regardless of position on those middle reels.
The Bonus symbol is a golden star coin that displays random values ranging from 1x to 14x. Landing 6 or more Bonus symbols anywhere triggers the Bonus (Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too).) game. Bonus symbols can appear in both the main game and Free Spins.
To the left of the screen are three Jackpots that you can score in the Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too). game: the Mini pays 30x, the Major pays 150x, and the Grand Jackpot pays 1,000x.
Features
FREE SPINS:
Three Scatter symbols trigger 8 Free Spins. During this round, only Wild, Scatter, Bonus, and the four high-paying symbols appear on the reels – no card symbols to clutter things up.
Landing 3 more Scatters during Free Spins re-triggers the feature for an additional 8 spins, and there’s no stated limit on how many times you can re-trigger.
BONUS GAME (HOLD AND WIN-STYLE):
Six or more Bonus symbols anywhere on the grid trigger the Bonus Game. You start with 3 spins, and the count resets back to 3 every time a new Bonus symbol lands.
Regular symbols vanish at the start, replaced by special reels containing only Bonus symbols and empty spaces. All Bonus symbols that land stick to the reels until the feature ends.
The round continues until you run out of spins or fill all 15 positions with Bonus symbols. The game doesn’t bother to tell us if filling all of the grid positions awards the Grand Jackpot or if you can win it simply by landing the symbol, and I wasn’t lucky enough to find out for myself.
Bonus symbols display random values of 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 10x, 12x, or 14x.
RANDOM EVENT:
On any non-winning spin in the base game or Free Spins, if at least one Bonus symbol is visible on the reels, there’s a chance that 5 additional Bonus symbols will randomly appear on the grid and immediately trigger the Bonus Game.
It’s a consolation prize for dead spins – or a kick in the teeth if those 5 symbols land with pathetic values.
BUY BONUS:
Two options are available: 8 Free Spins (costs 23x) or the Bonus Game for 43x.
Performance
I tested this bad boy on all of my devices and swapped browsers (Safari to Chrome), and had no issues.
Maximum Win
The max multiplier is 1,245x and the max win is $249,000. Betting ranges from $0.20 to $200.
Conclusion
The Grand Jackpot, at 1,000x, represents more than 80% of the max multiplier on its own, so filling the grid or hitting that top-tier jackpot is the goal.
Free Spins don’t add multipliers or anything beyond symbol filtering. They’re just… spins with slightly better symbols. Which brings me to some of the game’s other weaknesses.
The paytable is aggressively weak. Even the Diamond – the top symbol – only pays 10x for a full line. Medium volatility combined with a 1,245x max multiplier means you’re never getting into life-changing territory, even at the maximum bet.
The 43x Buy Bonus is the smarter choice if you’re chasing the max multiplier or Jackpots. It gives you direct access to the only feature that accumulates value.
In theory, you win a Jackpot when a Jackpot symbol lands, though I’m not sure how this relates to the Grand Jackpot. But here’s the thing: I didn’t see a single Jackpot symbol during the many times I played the Bonus game, so this will be a tough nut to crack.
Free Spins at 23x just removes low-paying symbols and gives you 8 chances to land combinations on a weak paytable.
Train of Riches Capital Express slot is not a game for high-risk players / max-win hunters. A 1,245x max multiplier and medium volatility means this game doesn’t have the ceiling for meaningful, life-changing wins.
