Ways of the Genie Thundershots Slot Review

What would you do if you had 3 wishes (and you aren’t allowed to wish for more)? Most people would ask for health, wealth, and other boring stuff.

Personally, I need only 1 wish: I wanna be reincarnated as Keith Richards. Now, before you start laughing, just think of this.

In one fell swoop, I’d be sorted for money, get more ass than a proctologist, and already look like I’d been dragged through the bush backwards, so getting old wouldn’t bother me. I mean, how much uglier could Keith get, right?

But if Ways of the Genie Thundershots slot from Playtech wants to throw even more wishes at me, then who am I to argue?

Gameplay

I expected a bit more from Playtech in terms of the design of this game. It’s a rather boring-looking thing but it does work well on a phone.

In portrait mode, you’ll see the genie wafting above the reels whereas in landscape mode, all you see is the grid. The upshot is that everything is super legible with minimal distractions, and considering most of y’all play on your phones, that should be quite the selling point.

I also like the Autoplay feature, which continues until a feature hits. It’s not something that many game studios provide, interestingly enough.

The stats are a bit disappointing. For starters, the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. is less than the industry standard (coming in at 95.48%), and despite the fact that the volatility rate has been set to high, the max win is only €176,700.

The last point to mention is that you can only play this game using fiat currency.

Features

The Wild symbol will replace all others except the genie lamp.

FREE SPINS:

Landed genie lamp symbols will award you Free Spins and it breaks down like this:

6 genie lamps = 20 Free Spins
5 genie lamps = 16 Free Spins
4 genie lamps = 12 Free Spins
3 genie lamps = 8 Free Spins

If you only land 2 genie lamps, don’t despair: you could still win a random prize of either Free Spins, win spins, mystery spins, or Thundershots (more on these in a mo’).

You might also see “curtains” draped on the reels. Raise them to the top and your bet will be increased by the reel multiplier.

MYSTERY SPIN:

When this feature begins, you’ll see swirling green mist floating across the grid. Mystery symbols will randomly transform into symbols of the same type.

THUNDERSHOTS:

Thundershots will be awarded during the Free Spins round, thanks to the magic lamps. It means you can clinch instant prizes or Free Spins.

Performance

Ain’t no performance anxiety here. I tested this bad boy over the course of hundreds of spins and not once did I experience a glitch, buffering, or any other issue.

Maximum Win

While the max multiplier is impressive (at 17,670x), the €176,700 max win ain’t. And while it’s not an amount most people would scoff at, it’s still not in keeping with the high volatility rate.

Bets start at €0.20 and max out at €10 and that’s a good thing, as it means you won’t have to sustain a huge bet as you chase down the top prize.

Conclusion

This is a super game for mobile players, as it looks fantastic and is easy to follow on a smaller screen when you’re on the move.

However, the max win could’ve done with an increase and the features are very simple and not particularly engaging. There’s a lot of same-same happening which didn’t keep my interest for very long.

Still, Ways of the Genie Thundershots slot could work for newbies or those peeps who just want a chilled session.
