Wild Roll Slot Review
Do you remember that whole Rickrolling thing, where clicking on a link triggered Never Gonna Give You Up? 🎹🎤 What was your favorite manifestation? Mine was the Foo Fighters trolling the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) protestors.
The band also drove past WBC troglodytes as their Bee Gees alter egos while playing a thumping cover of You Should Be Dancing. 🪩🕺
It was glorious – but perhaps not as glorious as the game 🎰 you’re about to be introduced to: Wild Roll slot from Playtech.
Gameplay
This game has such a cool minigame that I can’t wait to explain it to you. But first, as usual, we have to get a handle on the design and the stats.
We’re based in a jungle and the 5x3 grid is topped with Jackpots. The Mini pays 10x, the Minor pays 25x, the Major pays 100x, and the Grand Jackpot pays 500x your bet. That’s not a lot of money, considering the game is highly volatile.
The top prize is also a bit low, at $170,240, but the 8,512x max multiplier is decent. There are 30 paylines and the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. goes from 95.38% to 95.63% (thanks to the Buy Bonus options).
Crypto players will have to go somewhere else as this is a fiat-only game.
Wild symbols replace all others, except Scatters, Bonus, and Card symbols. Wilds land on reels 2 to 5.
Features
FREE SPINS:
Land 3 Scatters simultaneously on reels 2 to 4 to initiate this round and be awarded 8 spins. The only special thing about the feature is that all low-paying symbols will be removed.
WILD ROLL BONUS:
This is the feature I was so excited about! It’s a board game that you play by rolling a pair of dice.
You’ll trigger the round by hitting Bonus symbols (these have dice on em and the “Wild Roll” text), landing on reels 1 and/or 5, plus 1 or more Card symbols (a card with a question mark).
If a Bonus symbol on reel 5 doesn’t land properly, there’s the possibility that it will nudge back and in this way, activate the Wild Roll Bonus.
Each Bonus symbol will collect all of the Cards, which will then be revealed (remember, all you saw previously was the question mark on the back) and activated. You’ll see that the cars have an info icon – click on this to find out what the card represents.
The board game has 24 positions. Four of these have question marks – landing on these will reveal a new card.
Land on a position with a multiplier and it’ll be collected in the Total Win box to the left of the screen. Land on a position with a red X and the game will come to an end.
Dice Roll:
If you roll a double of any number, the following scenarios could play out:
- If you land on a multiplier, it’ll be collected twice
- If you land on a question mark, you’ll get two cards
- If you land on a Wild prize (Jackpot), it’ll only be collected once
Jungle Road:
On the board game is the head of a gorilla, and it’s locked. Landing on the head will unlock it and that’s when you’ll see red X’s on the board for the first time. Land on the ape’s head again, and you’ll enter the Jungle Road.
The Road has 8 positions and you’ll roll one standard die. Land on a position, and it will turn into a red X. Land on it again, and the game is over – meaning you’ll go back to the Wild Roll game, not the base game.
Now let’s talk about the various cards.
Life Card:
If this card is activated and you stand on a red X, you’ll be saved from inevitable disaster. In less dramatic terms, it means you can play on. Each Life Card will save you once.
Collect Remover Card:
This card transforms a random red X into a 1x multiplier.
Cash Spreader Card:
This card spreads multipliers across random positions (but only on pre-existing multipliers).
Double Win Card:
This card doubles the multipliers you’ve collected in the Total Win box.
Wild Prize Card:
This card adds a Mask symbol on random multiplier positions. A special spin will then be triggered, which grants a Mini, Minor, Major, or Grand Jackpot.
Trail Collect Card:
After this card has been activated, you will collect all of the multipliers on the next dice roll for as many steps as the die gives you on that roll. The last position you land on will transform into a red X, and all collected positions will change into a 1x multiplier.
Advance to Jungle Road:
Pick this card and you’ll go immediately to the Jungle Road position (the ape head). If the ape’s head is already unlocked, you’ll go immediately to the Jungle Road game.
Wild Cash Card:
This card grants you a random multiplier, which will be added to the Total Win box.
Both Sides Card:
You’ll collect multipliers from all across the board, not just from the positions you walk over.
Upgrader Card:
This card chooses 7 random positions and doubles their multipliers.
Monkey Walk Card:
Once this card has been selected, it prevents the positions you land on – for the next 3 rolls of the dice – from being transformed into red Xs.
BUY BONUS:
- Pay 100x for the Wild Roll Bonus with 3 to 18 initial cards
- Pay 150x for the Wild Roll Bonus with 6 to 18 initial cards
- Pay 200x for the Wild Roll Bonus with 9 to 18 initial cards
Performance
It would appear that Playtech hates Safari. I can never get their games to work on that browser. Having said that, they can also be problematic on Chrome; they can take a long time to load, and you’ll sometimes get kicked off afterward. Maybe it’s just me.
Maximum Win
Bet from $0.10 to $20. The max multiplier is 8,512x and the top prize is $170,240.
Conclusion
What a game! I haven’t had this much fun since I played strip poker with my sister’s best friends when she passed out at her birthday party.
However, this is one thing that annoyed the crap out of me. You see, each time you start the board game, it has to go through the same motions of revealing all of the cards in sequence and there’s no way to speed it up. Playtech really needs to fix this.
Screw the Free Spins round, the Wild Roll and Jungle Road is where it’s at, and you can grab a ton of multipliers in the process. Add to this the possibility of some Jackpots and you’ve got entertainment plus moolah all in one game. What more could you ask for?
If you’re into gamification, then check out Pearl O’ Plinko: Mermaid Cove. You play in different regions on a map and it’s the most entertaining Plinko gameA Plinko game is played on a pyramid-shaped area with “pins” stuck in them. Much like Pinball, a ball gets released from the top and hits the pins on the way down.
Underneath the pyramid is a “tray” that catches the ball and is divided into segments; each with a multiplier value. The further towards the edge of the pyramid you go, the higher the multiplier.
Multiplier values are adjusted by cycling through the volatility settings. I’ve experienced so far.
