Wisdom of Athena Slot Review

If you’ve been playing online casino games for a while, and especially if you’re a bitStarz regular, then you’ll know all about alternative forms of currency. 💸💷

Now I’m not going to turn this into a history or economics lesson – the gods know that I’m as ignorant as f**k when it comes to either – but I learned something new today and I have to share the wisdom. 🧠

And considering our next game is called Wisdom of Athena slot (from Pragmatic Play), and Athena was known for being a smarty-pants, and was a Greek deity, all of what I’m about to say will tie in and make sense.

The Greeks, as it turns out, used cheese as money. You see cheese is divisible and portable, and hard cheese can be stored for quite a while – all traits that money demands. How’s that for an interesting piece of useless information? 🧀

Here’s hoping you make a bucketload of cheese with Wisdom of Athena slot.

Gameplay

Good god – would you look at that goddess with the ample charms?! Man, she seems very comfortable manhandling a long, hard thing too… I’m talking about the spear Athena has in her hand, you shameful perverts.

Instead of regular paylines, Wisdom of Athena slot is a pay anywhere game. That means you must land at least 8 matching symbols on the 6-reel grid to trigger a win.

What happens then is that the winning symbols are removed, triggering a cascade where new symbols fall from the sky for – hopefully – even more wins. Cascades are theoretically unlimited and each one could unlock an additional row on the grid in the following way:

• After 1 cascade, the position above reel 1 unlocks
• After 3 more cascades, the position above reel 2 unlocks
• After 6 more cascades, the position above reel 3 unlocks
• After 9 more cascades, the position above reel 4 unlocks
• After 12 more cascades, the position above reel 5 unlocks
• After 15 more cascades, the position above reel 6 unlocks

The game looks amazeballs and the level of detail is stunning. If you’re a mobile player, you’ll be pleased to know that things look just as good on smaller devices. As is the norm with Pragmatic games, you can toggle the battery saver on so you can play for longer.

Thankfully, Wisdom of Athena slot is not all looks and no substance. The game boasts a 96.07% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate., a high volatility rate, and a top prize worth €400,000. The only sad part is that the largest multiplier is capped at 5,000x – but still, that’s not terrible by any means.

The only currency you won’t be able to play with is the Japanese yen; all other forms of money are good to go.

The Scatter is our warrior babe with the gravity-defying… smile. She will pay on any position in the base game and Scatters don’t get removed when part of a cascade – the Scatter will stay put until the end of all cascades resulting from the same spin.

Then there are the Multiplier symbols that take the form of different colored gems. These can hit randomly during cascades, Free Spins, and the base game.

Upon hitting, these symbols will take on a random multiplier value that could be 2x to 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 30x, 40x, 50x, 60x, 80x, 100x, 150x, 200x, 300x, 400x, or 500x.

Features

FREE SPINS:

You’ll trigger this round once you land 4 or more babe Scatters, which means you’ll get 10 spins to your credit. But the good news doesn’t end there; you can get an additional 5 spins whenever 3 or more new Scatters drop.

Free Spins start with the same locked row but each cascade that happens will count towards unlocking the rows. Once unlocked, the rows remain that way until the feature is over.

Any multipliers that land during the Free Spins round will be added to a total multiplier which will be in play for the duration of the round. But that’s not all; you could clinch more than one multiplier at a time.

BUY BONUS:

You can trigger the Free Spins round without having to wait – all you need to do is pay 100x your current bet. For your money, you’ll see 4, 5, or 6 random Scatters hitting the reels.

ANTE BET:

Toggle the Ante BetAn Ante Bet is an option that costs a percentage of your bet but increases your chances of landing triggering symbols that initiate a feature. on and you’ll increase your chances of triggering the Free Spins round as more Scatters are present on the reels. The Ante BetAn Ante Bet is an option that costs a percentage of your bet but increases your chances of landing triggering symbols that initiate a feature. will cost you 25x your bet.

Performance

I’m happy to report that Wisdom of Athena slot didn’t throw up any errors or have issues while loading or playing on my other devices.

Maximum Win

There’s a win worthy of the gods to be claimed in this game: €400,000! That’s not bad for a day’s work, right? You could get that by landing the 5,000x multiplier while betting at the maximum of €80. Or just bet from €0.20 – whatever works for you.

Conclusion

Wisdom of Athena slot is a beautifully put-together game built on solid stats. The features are a mix of traditional stuff along with locked reels and those random multipliers, which give you something to work towards.

The reality is that unlocking reels and triggering the Free Spins round organically is a herculean task. At least you can use the Buy Bonus for the latter but it hurts the wallet as 100x a time ain’t cheap.

Gameplay gets tedious during the base game due to these lengthy bouts of nothing much happening so you’ll need to be patient, strap yourself in for the long haul, and open up those purse strings if you want to get the most out of the game.

This is a challenging game but then again, you didn’t expect Athena to give up 400k easily, did you? While the setup is simple, I wouldn’t suggest that newbies spend too much time here.
