Wolf Hiding Slot Review

For once, I’m not going to bore you with some left-field intro for my next game (Wolf Hiding slot from Evoplay, in this case). Instead, I’m going to mention the blurb on their website.

The studio reckons “the wolf unearths the mystery of nightfall, revealing the riches of the enigmatic wood, which can only be found in moonlight.” That’s all fair and well, but I’m still not getting how all this ties into the “hiding” part of the title.

Call me old school, but I like my games to make sense. Oh well. Let’s get on with it, shall we?

The design of Wolf Hiding slot is undoubtedly different, and some cool animations give it life and make things interesting.

The mobile experience is okay but not great. I say this because there’s so much blue in the background and on the grid, that it tends to flow into itself.

That doesn’t mean you can’t see the symbols or any of the action, and the reels are nicely sized and well positioned in portrait mode. The grid is the same size in landscape mode and the sky is a lighter shade of blue, making things a bit easier on the eyeballs.

There are 20 fixed paylines on Wolf Hiding slot, and the game comes with a high volatility rate. That means a whopping €300,000 is up for grabs, but there is a downside: the sub-par RTP (95.96%).

You can play this game using any currency, as long as it’s not Dogecoin. Sorry, Elon.

The Wild symbol is a rather sinister-looking wolf. Landing 5 Wilds on a winning payline will reward you with 50x your stake (4 Wilds = 12.5x and 3 Wilds = 2.5x).

Wilds replace all other symbols except for the Free Spins ones.

This feature gets triggered when you land 3 or more Free Spin symbols. You’ll see Mystery symbols on reels 2 and 4 (more on that in a bit) and a multiplier will also be applied to all wins during the round.

Multipliers start at 1x and will increase each time you trigger the Hidden feature (I’ll also explain that in a sec).

Free Spins are unlimited – yes, you read that right – and continue until no Mystery symbols are left on the reels.

These symbols take the form of swirling clouds which reveal regular symbols, Full Moons, or Wilds, and these can also be fully stacked. Mystery symbols come in stacks of 4, and these bad boys set off the Hidden feature.

The reels with Mystery symbols on em will nudge down by a single position, while the remaining reels keep spinning.

When a Mystery symbol reveals a Full Moon symbol (the one with the howling wolf in front of it), that’s when this feature comes into play.

Each Mystery symbol will now spin and reveal either Free Spin symbols or Coin symbols (the latter are Moons with values – yeah, not confusing at all). Oh, and bet multipliers range from 1x to 2,500x.

My testing revealed flawless gameplay across all my devices, and that’s due to the HTML5 technology used by Evoplay. It also means you can use the browser you like best.

Maximum Win

The maximum bet on this game is €10, and while that’s not too far off from the €0.10 starting point, it means your wallet will thank you in the long run.

You see, things can get pricey if you’re chasing the max win over several rounds and across 20 paylines. If you’re lucky, the 30,000x multiplier will transform your 10 bucks into €300,000!

I wasn’t a massive fan of the aesthetic, and I felt that the game's title and plot were forced and didn’t make much sense.

Once I got past that and immersed myself in the action, I started to warm up to the game. And I suppose the unlimited Free Spins had something to do with that.

I also found that I snapped up some Huge wins (my experience might differ from yours) and triggered the Free Spins round regularly.

So, despite myself, I ended up rather enjoying Wolf Hiding slot. Oooowwwwoooooo!
