I don’t do this often, but today I’m going to let ELK Studios set the scene for ZapLab slot:

Gameplay

No prizes for guessing that this game works with a Cluster PaysUnlike traditional paylines, Cluster Pays can award wins when a minimum number of matching symbols land adjacent to each other (vertically or horizontally), forming a cluster. system – the grid is a massive 7-reel, 7-row affair, and it’s filled with freaky creatures that stare a lot. Zappy, our spiky protagonist, is Wild, and he’ll jump to a random position when part of a winning cluster. As he does so, he’ll leave a Wild behind, but he’ll also zap all Dr. Mayhem symbols (he’ll zap em off the grid).

Each zap increases Zappy’s multiplier, and Zappy can grow to 2x2, 3x3, or 4x4 in size during a zap attack.

Dr. Mayhem is a blocker symbol, and the Monster Meter increases when Dr. Mayhem gets zapped.

In a nutshell, your job is to land winning Cascades, which in turn fill the Monster Meter that triggers modifiers and special features.

The design, the soundtrack, the whole enchilada are simply stunning and speak to the effort ELK has put into this game. It also makes the experience of playing – whether on your phone, tablet, or laptop – immersive and downright awesome.

The stats of the game are as follows: the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

  • Monstrous: Random symbols or Wilds become 3x3, 4x4, or 5x5 symbols
  • Zapocalypse: A random number of Dr. Mayhems drop and Zappy zaps them

As for the special symbols, these can also come about on any symbol drop; it doesn’t have to be via the Monster Meter. When they initially drop, these symbols will be Wild. They’ll trigger when they come from the Meter or when they’re part of a winning cluster.

When triggered, the symbols can transform into the following:

  • Omniblast: These symbols explode, replacing regular symbols (of a random type) in an X-shape
  • Electroshift: A random symbol type (all that are visible) is upgraded to a more valuable version
  • Twilight Twirl: A random symbol type is selected, and it converts itself to this type but removes all regular pay symbols. Dr. Mayhem, Zappy, Wilds, and other special symbols aren’t affected

After filling your fifth Monster Meter, this activates Shockwaves – meaning that all Monster Modifiers are awarded. They follow the same order as I’ve listed in the bullet point above.
