Zombie Carnival Slot Review

Remember that 2003/2005 TV series, Carnivàle? Set during the Great Depression, the 24 episodes were themed around the struggle between good and evil, and the push and pull of free will versus destiny.

If you watched the show, you’ll remember that they had some freaky sh*t going on, with demonic creatures and healers and such. Now it seems to me that the only thing they were lacking was a bunch of brain-eating zombies.

Enter Zombie Carnival slot from Pragmatic Play. There’s cerebral cortex on the menu and a side dish of €400,000 – so what are you waiting for?

Gameplay

You read that right: €400,000. That’s what’s on the table from this high volatility game that offers 4,096 ways to win. Happily, these figures are coupled with a 96.5% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

, making it a super attractive game – at least on paper. We need to scratch under the surface to find out more.

Pragmatic Play has created a vibrant and detailed world that, although it’s a bit on the cartoonish side, nonetheless looks phenomenal. And it looks simply superb on a mobile phone, too.

The only thing to take note of before we push on to the features is that the game doesn’t accept Japanese yen, Bitcoin Cash, or Tether.

Features

Remember those brains we talked about? They’re the SCATTER and you’ll see em on reels 2 to 5. The WILD is a crazy-eyed circus bear, but this one only manifests during Free Spins.

Next up on our symbols list is the MYSTERY one and it comes to us in the shape of a pink, ribboned box with a “?” on it.

Mystery symbols can appear in both the base game and the Free Spins round. If you see them at the end of your spins, you’ll witness them transforming into random paying symbols.

FREE SPINS FEATURE:

The round will be triggered once you land 2 or more Scatter symbols. The triggering Scatters will transform into Wilds and become sticky for the duration of the round.

You’ll start with 6 Free Spins but for each additional Scatter you bring in, you’ll get an extra Free Spin. These new landed Scatters will also be consumed by the nearest Wild, thereby boosting the multiplier by 1x. This multiplier applies to all winning combos that include the Wild.

And what happens if you have multiple Wilds involved in the same win? In that case, the multipliers multiply each other.

But what if there are more Scatters on screen than Wilds to consume them? The unconsumed Scatters will simply change into Wilds anyway.

BUY FEATURE:

Time is of the essence when you have lurching, drooling zombies on your ass. Luckily, there’s no need to wait for the Scatters to come in and grant you the Free Spins round.

You can buy spins for 80x your current total bet. When you do, 2, 3, or 4 Scatters will hit, and they’ll award you their respective Free Spins.

Performance

Brain-quaffing zombies would have a field day at the Pragmatic Play offices. After all, it’s those dudes with the serious gray matter that have seen to it that Zombie Carnival slot works on all devices, operating systems, and browsers.

I tested the game exhaustively and didn’t have any issues at all.

Maximum Win

Step right up, ladies and gentlemen, and place your bets! You can kick things off with a mere €0.20 or go straight to the cap of €80, depending on how deep your pockets are and how much you love a bit of risk.

Bring in the 5,000x multiplier at the max bet though, and you’re looking at the business end of a €400,000 top prize!

Conclusion

I like how Pragmatic Play has combined the circus theme with our zombie homies, to give it a unique look and feel. This game is all about the Free Spins, so you’ve got to be into that else you might be disappointed.

During my testing session, I found it extremely easy to nail a few Scatters and trigger the Free Spins round, so there wasn’t much need to use the Buy Feature. Typically, I pulled in only 2 Scatters at a time so there weren’t many (if any) Wilds on the reels. Which is expected, I guess.

Overall, I enjoyed this game. It’s simple, solid, and looks a treat so I do recommend taking it for a spin.
