Blackjack Surrender Review

My friends and I loved watching karate movies growing up. We were raised on Jean-Claude Van Damme roundhouse kicks, training montages, and the sacred belief that you never back down, even when your opponent was twice your size and clearly knew actual karate. 🥋

There’s a series of really old movies based on the original No Retreat, No Surrender, and I think they churned out four or five sequels. They’re all about martial arts, high-testosterone showdowns, and the clear message that tapping out was for cowards. 🐔

We’d charge into every playground scuffle like it was a showdown with the Russian villain (a.k.a. some poor kid from another neighborhood) fueled by honor and a dangerously inflated sense of invincibility. ✊

Surrender wasn’t in our vocabulary, at least not until that first punch landed square on your nose. 👃

Well, times have changed. Now we’re older, wiser, and slightly more attached to our financial 💰 health — which is why Blackjack Surrender from Platipus Gaming might just be the most mature decision you’ll make today.

Gameplay

The green Blackjack carpet has been rolled out once again, and you’re invited to take a seat. You’ll find the gameplay controls in the bottom right corner, clearly marked for quick decision-making.

This version uses 6 decks and supports up to 5 hands at once. Each hand has its own circular betting area, and just beside them are the zones for optional side bets — more on those in the Features section.

Blackjack Surrender follows standard Las Vegas Strip rules, with a few notable exceptions:

  • You can’t re-split split hands
  • A split Ace only gets one additional card
  • Doubling after a split is allowed
  • The dealer hits on 16 and stands on 17

The game is built on the following stats: a 93.89% - 99.66% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
, a low volatility rate, a theoretical 200x max multiplier, and a $35,050 max win.

Features

7-CARD CHARLIE

If you manage to draw 7 cards without busting, that’s called a 7-card Charlie — and you’ll automatically win, unless the dealer has Blackjack.

SIDE BETS

In addition to your regular bets, there are side bets that can score you extra wins even if your main hand loses. Here’s how they break down:

Player’s and Dealer’s Pair

You can place this side bet once per round in the “Dealer’s Pair” area at the top right. You’ll win if the first two cards form one of these combinations:

  • Perfect Pair (25:1) - Identical suit and value (ex two 4 of Diamonds)

  • Colored Pair (12:1) - Same value, same color, different suit (ex 4 of Diamonds, and 4 of Hearts)

  • Red/Black Pair (6:1) - Same value, different colors and suits (ex 6 of Spades, and 6 of Clubs)

21+3 Bets

This side bet uses your first two cards and the dealer’s first card. If the trio forms one of the following combos, you win:

  • Suited 3 of a Kind (100:1) - Same value and suit
  • Straight Flush (40:1) - Consecutive cards of the same suit
  • 3 of a Kind (30:1) - Same value, mixed suits
  • Straight (10:1) - Consecutive cards, different suits
  • Flush (5:1) - Same suit, non-consecutive

You can only place side bets in combination with a regular hand bet, but all of them can be placed simultaneously.

The full paytable is displayed at the top of the game, but here’s what you’re looking at:

  • Win - 1:1
  • Insurance - 2:1
  • Blackjack - 2:1
  • Perfect Pair - 25:1
  • Colored Pair - 12:1
  • Red/Black Pair - 6:1
  • Suited 3 of a Kind - 100:1
  • Straight Flush - 40:1
  • 3 of a Kind - 30:1
  • Straight - 10:1
  • Flush - 5:1

Performance

I didn’t experience any problems, and everything worked perfectly.

To score the $35,050 max win, you need to play the max bet, 5 hands, and hit the optimal card combination.

The total bet limit is $800:

  • Blackjack: 3:2
  • Perfect Pair: 25:1
  • Coloured Paid: 12:1
  • Red/Black Pair: 6:1
  • Suited 3 of a Kind: 100:1

Conclusion

Platipus delivers a clean, stylish take on the classic table game, with flexible limits and plenty of side bet options to keep things interesting. The base hit frequency is a solid 43–49%, which means you’ll land frequent wins to keep momentum going, especially with 5 hands in play.

The optional side bets add spice and strong upside, with payouts up to 100:1, and the 7-card Charlie rule offers rare but satisfying wins. With low volatility, and a max win of $35,050, this table suits everyone from low-stakes grinders to risk-savvy side bettors.

It may not reinvent the game of Blackjack, but if you're looking for smooth gameplay and strong strategic potential, Blackjack Surrender is worth a few hands.
