Florageddon! Slot Review

Back in the day, there was a movie called Little Shop of Horrors, and it centered around a nerdy florist who bought a bloodthirsty plant with the aim of turning his flagging business around.

Florageddon! slot from Yggdrasil has a similar theme going for it, with flesh-eating blossoms that you’ll need to vanquish in order to bolster your fortunes.

Before we get into the game itself, allow me to leave you with one sinister fact about the Pitcher Plant. This carnivorous agent likes nothing more than to slowly digest hapless frogs that have fallen deep into its slippery digestive system.

The only thing they don’t chow down on are frog’s feet slippers. In other words, the skin of their feet. Ewww!

Yggdrasil has come up with a novel theme and a sweet aesthetic for their latest offering, and the action plays out across a 5x3-reel grid.

The idea is that plants have taken over the planet in this post-apocalyptic world, as you can see from the rotting taxi carcass, the discarded phone booth (do you even remember these?), and the forlorn traffic light.

You’ll notice off the bat that there are multipliers on either side of the grid (more on that in a bit). The controls have been visually separated from the rest of the game, making them easier to see and engage with.

As for the soundtrack, it’s super sinister and I must admit to leaving the MUTE button alone for quite some time, as it added to the overall experience in a really cool way.

The object of this game is to land identical symbols on 3 or more consecutive reels starting from either the furthest left or right reel. In other words, we’ve got ourselves both-ways pays here.

There’s a tumble or cascade feature too (Yggdrasil calls it a dropdown), so winning symbols are removed to make space for others, and an extra Wild will also find its way onto the reels after a win.

Florageddon! slot comes with 243 ways to win, a 96% RTP, and a high volatility rate. The max win is an earth-shattering €400,000 but only fiat platers will be able to try their luck.

Wilds replace all regular symbols.

There are 2 sets of multipliers here, as I mentioned earlier. The ones on the left are applied to left to right wins, while the multipliers on the right… well, I’m sure you get it.

Unsurprisingly, the left and right multipliers will be added together in cases of both ways wins. Each time you win, it will increase the multiplier values.

You’ll need to land 3, 4, or 5 Scatters to trigger this feature and that will see you rewarded with 7, 9, or 11 Free Spins, respectively.

The round starts with a 1x multiplier on both sides of the grid. Multipliers also don’t reset during this feature, which is really neat.

This is becoming quite a regular phenomenon with the latest slot games. It entails gambling for additional spins (up to 16) before a Free Spins round is initiated, but beware that you could lose all your spins if your gambling doesn’t pay off.

The format is a wheel of fortune type of thing, and your aim is to land the pointer on the green section of the wheel.

You’ll notice red or green rectangles above each reel. These need to be filled (it takes 4 consecutive tumbles or dropdowns during the base game, or 3 during Free Spins) to trigger the Special Rewards.

Rewards can manifest in the following ways:

Double Wild: 2 Wilds are added to the grid (duh!)
Multiplier Boost: Both left and right multipliers receive a 10x boost
Wild Stack: One of the reels will be bolstered by 3 Wild symbols, and 3 more are stacked above in anticipation of the next dropdown
Extra Life: All symbols involved in a non-winning dropdown will be removed and replaced by new symbols

Take this option – at a cost of 50% of your stake – if you’d like to clinch a Special Reward for a reduced number of consecutive dropdowns (from 4 to 3 in the base game).

Purchase 7, 9, or 11 Free Spins for a fee of 100x your bet, or get 16 Free Spins for 400x your bet.

Flesh-eating plants have honed their skills over millennia, and the key to their success is not to unsettle their quarry. Similarly, the gameplay on Florageddon! slot is smooth and seamless. I tried it out on different browsers and devices, and it worked a treat in all cases.

Maximum Win

Lordy, these are some wicked numbers: a €400,000 max win courtesy of a 20,000x multiplier at a max bet of €20 (€0.20 being the least you can wager).

It’s not often we get to experience a both-ways paying game with a unique theme that offers stunning multipliers and loads of Free Spins (thanks to a Gamble feature), so the novelty level is high with this one.

Florageddon! slot has been well thought out and the features complement each other. And if that wasn’t enough, then the sizzling max win should be the deciding factor if you’re unsure whether to play it or not (you should definitely play it).

Personally, I’ve already made up my mind that I’ll be back for more carnivorous plant action.
