The Rite Slot Review

I’ve always been a fan of the dark aesthetic. This love affair has led to traumatized parents, freaked-out teachers, and a tattoo habit that’s cost the same as a small nation’s GDP.

But after all the years of being the token weirdo, I just might have found the perfect game: it’s called The Rite slot and it comes to us from Mascot Gaming. I’m as giddy as a goth on Halloween, so let’s get to it!

Gameplay

Finally! A game that speaks to my warped tastes! I’m already enamored by the skulls, voodoo dolls, and knives. By the way, the SPIN button is also a skull, in case you’re hunting around for that.

Looking at it on my phone in portrait mode, I can only come up with the following conclusion: it sucks. The grid is positioned at the top of the screen and it’s small. The symbols don’t look great in this format, and the background is just this brown thing. Utter rubbish.

Thankfully, it looks okay in landscape mode as this mirrors what you’d see on a desktop or laptop.

In terms of the stats, this is a 40-payline game with an RTP of 96.1% and a medium volatility rate. And so here’s the poop in the bathwater – the max win is only €25,000. Yep, that’s not a type-o; that’s the most you can expect to clinch here.

Features

The Wild, which is a skull on a crucifix, replaces all symbols other than the Scatter and Bonus ones. You’ll see Wilds during the base game as well as the Free Spins round on all of the reels.

The Scatter is also a skull but you’ll see this one on its own. Also appearing in both the base game and the Free Spins round, Scatter wins involving 3 or more of these symbols are paid as the total bet x the bet multiplier.

The Bonus symbol is a voodoo doll and it appears during the base game only. Landing 3 to 5 of em on a payline results in the Voodoo Rite Bonus feature.

VOODOO RITES BONUS FEATURE:

When this kicks off, you’ll be presented with 7 dolls on a round board with some candles on it. You’ll need to pick your favorite dolls and hopefully, they’ll reveal coin wins, multipliers, or Free Spins. Reveal the Loss symbol and it will end the fun right there.

At the start of the Bonus round, all of the coin wins are added together, along with the winnings you received.

The multiplier is applied to all coin wins and will only be revealed once during the feature, just like Free Spins. You can score up to 25 spins and the Free Spins feature will start right after the Voodoo one ends.

You’ll need to clinch 3 to 5 Scatter symbols to initiate the Free Spins round (so this is different from the extra spins I mentioned above), and you’ll be gifted 10 spins as a result.

Performance

I had no issues with the performance of The Rite slot. I rocked it on my desktop, laptop, and phone without a single glitch or buffer. The same goes for playing on different browsers – pick whichever one you want.

Maximum Win

Yeah, so I was hoping for better news when I saw that this game had a medium volatility rate. But sadly, all you can win here is €25,000 – that comes from the 125x multiplier at the maximum bet of €200 (which is the most generous thing the game offers).

You can, however, start betting as low as €0.40 if that suits you better.

Conclusion

I was so hoping this freaky little game would be a winner, but it seems to be a case of theme over substance. I say “theme” because even the aesthetics aren’t all that great.

The features didn’t blow my kilt up and mobile play was limited to landscape mode.

Then there’s the issue of the poor max win. Look, I don’t have an issue with a low prize if they make sense; like if the game has a low volatility rate, but that’s not the case here.

So, nah. I don’t see myself returning to this game any time soon.
