Treasure Room Slot Review
In my misspent youth, I pretty much tried every "get rich quick" scheme that I came across. I really should have had “GULLIBLE” tattooed on my forehead! Oddly enough, the one thing I never tried was treasure hunting. Considering that a significant part of my childhood was spent reading adventure yarns and watching Indiana Jones movies, I'm a bit surprised I never gave it a tilt. Now that middle-age has crept in, and my energy is sapped, those doors are closed. Or so I thought… Opening them right back up again is Betsoft with their glittering progressive video slot called Treasure Room. It's designed for you to fulfill your dreams on any device whether it be P.C, mobile or tablet. With crackling fire lamps in the background, the stonewalled room sets a vivid and eerie atmosphere. I looked around for my fedora and whip, but alas, I had left them at home. Still, the mood remained one of pure adventure and discovery.
Treasure Room is a medium volatility 5 reel and 20 payline slot. There are a lot of symbols and each one adds to the theme. The standard symbols: jewels, coins, helmet, ring, amulet, map and hourglass. Special symbols:
A treasure chest is the jackpot icon.
A compass is the wild.
A circular calendar, with a hand in the center, is the scatter.
Sword and shield is an instant bonus symbol.
The wild symbol substitutes for all symbols except the bonus, scatter and jackpot icons. The controls have a slight retro arcade feel to them, with Autoplay, Progressive Jackpot display and View Pays above the reels. Below are Balance, Credits, Total Bet and Winner Paid (i.e. Winning Amount). Finally, right at the bottom are Coin Denomination, Select Lines, Bet Per Line, Max Bet and Spin. Pace your treasure hunt, because there's no Turbospin.
- 3 or more scatter symbols anywhere on the reels activates the Treasure Room Bonus Feature in which you are transported to a separate screen. Here you get a choice of 3 doors, behind which each has a hidden gem. Choose them one by one until all 3 gems are revealed and your winnings are then added and paid out. Winnings are multiplied by the number of lines where the combo was hit and bet per line. (I found this a bit odd – why do we have to choose if you end up selecting all 3 and winning all three combined? It seemed like a bit of a time waster…)
- 3 or more sword and shield bonus icons on an active payline triggers a bonus round in which you have a choice of sword and shields on screen. Choose one to reveal wins of between 25 and 4000 credits instantly! Wins are then multiplied by the number of lines and bet per line where the bonus combo appears.
- 5 Jackpot icons anywhere on a Max Bet wins you the Jackpot!
The Maximum Win is of course whatever the Progressive Jackpot amount is when you're lucky enough to win it!
I loved the graphics and animations in Treasure Room – they really capture the essence of the game. The best sound effects are the crackling flames in the background, but the rest are excellent also. The music doesn't quite fit the theme but mercifully isn't played continuously. While best enjoyed on a large screen, this game performed flawlessly on all devices tested.
I adored both the theme and innovative features. While I missed my regular poison of choice – Free Spins – the substituting rewards were a refreshing change. Just make sure you find that fedora and whip because that's all that could have improved my experience!
