Weekend in Vegas Slot Review
The great thing about Vegas is that new hotels pop up every year, so if you happen to be unjustly banned for card counting or vomiting on a blackjack table, you can just move along the strip to another casino. Of course, those two instances are purely hypothetical and in no way reflect my past behavior… I actually blame movies and entertainment for giving us the go-ahead to let loose in Vegas and raise hell. The first time I watched “The Hangover” was in a hotel on the strip at 2 am and suddenly we had a gameplan – a route to follow and idiots to emulate. I used to take Vegas quite seriously before that, intent more on showing a profit than having fun. Weekend in Vegas is a video slot by Betsoft Gaming created to take players on a wild ride via P.C, mobile device or tablet. Its got an adult cartoon feel (not in an X-rated type of way – get your mind outta the gutter. It's more in a non-kiddie caricature way). I felt like I was on a bachelors weekend with a group of friends that were even less cool than me (and that's tough to find!). The backdrop of the strip got me psyched from the start – ROCK AND ROLL ITS TIME FOR ACTION!
Weekend in Vegas is a low volatility 5 reel and 243 payline slot. The symbols vary from hilarious to Vegas staples: Loony Larry, Balanced Ben, Cautious Chris, stripper legs, 10-Ace icons, Las Vegas sign (wild) and police car (scatter). The wild can replace anything except the scatter. Controls are elegant and function – up top: Options (including Turboplay) and View Pays. Down below: Balance and Credits. Further down: Choose coin, Bet Level, Bet, Win, Max Bet, Spin, Double (i.e- gamble) and Autoplay.
After every winning spin in regular play, there's a chance to double your profits with a simple coin toss.
3,4 or 5 scatters anywhere activates 8,12 or 20 re-triggerable Free Spins respectively, during which, all payouts are doubled. After Free spins, players are awarded a spin on the Money Wheel. If you land on a green arrow, you get to spin again with your possible wins increasing each time. Once you get your prize, the feature ends.
3 or more reels filled with the same character triggers the Bonus Round where you visit a casino on the strip to try to earn massive prizes. Each character has a different experience, so this feature is chockablock filled with surprises. You get to keep playing until your luck runs dry! An additional Re-spin is awarded if 2-4 Reels are filled with the same character. This allows you to increase your chance for the second screen bonus round and even more wins.
The graphics are stunning but it's the animations that are groundbreaking for a slot. After playing, I wanted to see the animated movie version! Music and sound effects set the party mode to full throttle. I ran Weekend in Vegas on a few platforms and found that while performing flawlessly on all, I best enjoyed it with a large screen.
Weekend in Vegas is an all-out party of a slot giving players a taste of the wild, crazy and hi-jinks of Sin City. Of course, the benefit of this game over the real thing is you've got a much better chance of winning here because of the innovative features AND there's no hangover afterwards!
