Gangsterz Slot Review

I think the Triceratops dinosaur was the forerunner to the juiced-up gym bunny. If you’ve ever set foot in one of those testosterone and sweat-laden places, chances are you’ll have encountered the human equivalent.

You see, the Triceratops is thought to have used the frill around its head as a warning to other critters.

Eggheads believe the skin flushed red thanks to blood flowing to myriad vessels and in that way, the dino signaled that it was pissed off (or horny, but I guess they always looked like that). And that’s just like our gym bunny.

Tell me you haven’t seen those dudes carrying invisible watermelons under their arms. They’re typically so red in the face that they look like they’re going to explode like an engorged tick.

And doesn’t that redness scream: “Watch out, brother – don’t mess with me. I’m pumped and vascular and I’ll slap you with these b*tch tits”?

Luckily, the dinosaurs in Gangsterz slot from BGAMING are the non-aggro type. Like shoo-wow, it’s all good bro.

Gameplay

Boy, was I mistaken. I read the title of Gangsterz slot and was expecting bad-asses from the ’hood, or Mafia dudes, but never did I expect to find a bunch of weird-looking dinosaurs on the grid of this game.

Off the bat, we can see that Cluster Pays are being used on the 7 reels. This game has a very high volatility rate, and while the max win is good by anyone’s standards (at €240,000), I’ve seen games with merely “high” rates beat this amount hands-down.

Oh, well. At least there are no currency restrictions so you can play with the fiat or crypto of your choosing.

Gangsterz slot’s design is really cool, though, with its 1920s vibe. And I like that you can click on a symbol to initiate a pop-up with info on it, rather than having to go into the Info section.

This is a brilliant option if you like to take your games on the road. The Cluster Pays format lends itself nicely to portrait mode on a phone but landscape will do just as well if that’s how you prefer to roll.

The Wild (it’s a big W) replaces all other symbols, and there’s a Progress Bar (PB) to the right of the grid which looks like a safe with money peeking out from behind the door.

The number on the PB starts at 100 and for every symbol that’s part of a winning combo, you’ll bring that figure down by 1 point. Every 25 points you knock off the PB will trigger a random feature: Detonation, Reduction, Separation, and Promotion.

Knock the Progress Bar counter down to zero and the Safe feature will be activated. Oh, and the element to the left of the grid shows you the points derived from the symbols.

The next thing I wanna discuss is the backlit symbol. You’ll see a randomly chosen low-paying symbol glowing after a spin. If a backlit symbol is involved in a win, it’ll disappear and 2 Wilds will take its place.

Features

DETONATION:

With this feature, 3 to 6 symbols turn into Wilds and each one will obliterate 4 symbols around itself.

REDUCTION:

All low-paying symbols will be destroyed.

SEPARATION:

A Wild is created and any symbols that sit on a diagonal with it will be changed into the same symbol. If Wilds are sitting on the diagonal, they will remain unchanged.

PROMOTION:

Here, a randomly chosen symbol – and all others like it – will morph into other similar symbols so that they’re all the same.

SECOND CHANCE:

In cases where a spin doesn’t result in a win, a random number of symbols can turn into Wilds.

SAFE FEATURE:

When this feature is triggered, a 3x3-sized Wild symbol will appear. The second time it appears, it’ll be in a 2x2 form, while the third time you’ll see 9 individual Wilds.

BIG BOSS FEATURE:

Land 4 of the same symbols adjacently so that they form a square and they’ll morph into one 2x2-sized symbol. If this large symbol forms part of its own winning combo, the win amount will be doubled.

Now, if a bunch of the big symbols are involved in a win, their multipliers will be multiplied and applied to the win (say that fast!).

BUY FEATURE:

Pay 100x your bet to trigger the Safe feature.

Performance

Despite the Twenties vibe of the design, there’s nothing old school about the tech that went into Gangsterz slot. And that means smooth and uninterrupted gameplay, irrespective of which device or browser you choose to roll with.

Maximum Win

There’s almost a quarter mil (€240,000) up for grabs and to clinch it, you’ll need to nail the 12,000x multiplier while betting €20 a shot. Or downgrade your bet to €0.20 or anything in between.

Conclusion

Gangsterz slot was a fun game to play, and I didn’t miss the fact that there were no Free Spins on offer. The features – which are different from anything else I’ve seen – suit the game but the thing I was most excited about was the mobile experience.

It’s a lighthearted slot that nonetheless sits atop some sturdy stats, so there’s not much to fault here. If you put a gun to my head, the only thing I’d bring up is the max win which could’ve been better given the volatility rate but that’s about it.
